Telenet Giants Antwerp (Euromillions League) landed 25-year old Serbian power forward Aleksandar Marelja (207-92, agency: BeoBasket). He played most recently at Real Betis in Spanish Liga Endesa. Marelja managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 8 Liga Endesa games he averaged just 2.1ppg and 1.4rpg. He also played for BC Mega Bemax Sremska Mitrovica in Serbian league that season where in 10 ABA League games he had 6.8ppg and 3.8rpg. Marelja also played 4 games in Basketball Champions League where he recorded 8.5ppg and 2.8rpg. The other team he played that season for was KK Vrsac Swisslion in Serbian KLS. In 11 games he got impressive 18.2ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.0apg and 1.1spg. Marelja helped them to make it to the semifinals.
Among other achievements his team won Belgian Cup for two years in a row (2015 and 2016). Marelja received also Eurobasket.com All-World University Games Honorable Mention award in 2015.
He represented Serbia at the World University Games in Gwangju (South Korea) two years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: 12.0ppg, 6.5rpg, FGP: 61.3%, FT: 71.4%.
Marelja is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Serbia (Partizan, Borac, Sloga and Radnicki KG 06), Spain (UCAM Murcia), Belgium (Oostende) and FYR Macedonia (Strumica).
