The Regular Season in Top Division Women just started.

B.Willebroek defeated Liege at home 75-69. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-18. But Liege won second period 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. B.Willebroek forced 19 Liege turnovers. The former international guard Vreny Van Driel (175-88) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Ann Lydia Boel (182-88) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. Center Laura Henket (183-98, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Liege will play next round against strong Sint Kateline Waver trying to get back on the winning streak. B.Willebroek will try to continue on its current victory against Castors Braine at home.

Celeste Trahan-Davis contributed with 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Castors Braine's coach Ainars Zvirgzdins felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Tine Putman (170-82) answered with 9 points and 6 rebounds for Laarne. Castors Braine will play against B.Willebroek on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Laarne will play against Tulikivi (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Sint Katelijne, where Belfius Namur (0-1) lost to Sint Kateline Waver (1-0) in a road game 67-80 on Sunday. Becky Massey stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. At the losing side Ronni Williams responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sint Kateline Waver will meet Liege (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Belfius Namur will play against Declercq Stortbeton and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 1 winless Verviers-Pep. lost to undefeated Waregem in a road game 56-111. Winless Spirou Monceau lost to undefeated Kangoeroes at home 65-72.

Castors Braine - Laarne 122-51

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Laarne (0-1) on the court of Castors Braine. Visitors were rolled over by Castors Braine 122-51. It looked good early as Laarne took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Castors Braine had a 29-5 second period charge getting the lead and Laarne was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 51-122. Castors Braine dominated on the defensive end, holding Laarne to just 5 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Laarne's 22 and made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Laarne 50-28 including a 39-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Castors Braine players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Laarne's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian center Anete Steinberga (190-90, college: UTEP, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. American center Celeste Trahan-Davis (186-85, college: Elizabeth City, agency: LBM Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Castors Braine players scored in double figures. Castors Braine's coach Ainars Zvirgzdins felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Tine Putman (170-82) answered with 9 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Bieke Vanrenterghem (175-86) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Laarne. Castors Braine will play against B.Willebroek on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Laarne will play against Tulikivi (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

We should mention about the upset which took place in Sint Katelijne, where Belfius Namur (0-1) lost to Sint Kateline Waver (1-0) in a road game 67-80 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Sint Kateline Waver. Belfius Namur managed to win second period 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sint Kateline Waver made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Belfius Namur only scored eleven points from the stripe. Sint Kateline Waver forced 19 Belfius Namur turnovers. Declercq Stortbeton used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Verviers 111-56 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Declercq Stortbeton led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Verviers-Pep.'s 28. Declercq Stortbeton forced 24 Verviers-Pep. turnovers and outrebounded them 41-23 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Declercq Stortbeton looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Verviers-Pep.'s players. American guard Jackie Nared (183-90, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: LBM Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners and the former international forward Miete Celus (173-91) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Five Declercq Stortbeton players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international Nina Crelot (169-87) responded with 18 points and Noemie Bonvoisin (186-95) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Verviers-Pep.'s coach Antoine Braibant gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. At the losing side Serbian forward Andjelina Radic (187-94) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Seraphine Bastin (170-0) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Kangoeroes will meet Verviers-Pep.
