FIBA rejected the request of Emir Preldzic (206-F-87, agency: Beo Basket) even he declared innumerous times that he is only interested for the the blue-golden jersey. Jure Zdovc who has enjoyed the sympathies of KK Bosna supporters broke his promise to respect the decisions of his naturalised players and punished Emir Preldzic for being honest. Preldzic and the KSBIH announced that they won t give in.
Teletovic and Ikonic asked Bajramovic to join the team later since they have health respectively private problems. Teletovic said that he will most likely miss the qualifications since he has serious ankle problems-
Goran Suton rejects invitation from Bosnian Basketball Federation - Jun 29, 2009 (by Eurobasket News)
It seems that Bosnian Basketball Federation has lost another battle, after losing Emir Preldzic (206-F-87, agency: Beo Basket) to Slovenia. Even though Preldzic stated that he wants to play for Bosnia, he did not get the clearance from Slovenian Basketball Federation and from FIBA so he will stay the Slovenian citizen. Now another candidate which was called up by Bosnian National Team has declined the invitation and that is Goran Suton (209-C-85). Suton who played for Michigan State, and was recently drafted by Uah Jazz, has declined the invitation for preparation for Eurobasket. Head Coach of Bosnian National Team, Mensur Bajramovic stated that he tried to get in touch with Suton recently regarding playing for National Team. After failing in several attempts, he was recently notified by Suton's brother that he does not wish to play for Bosnia. Bajramovic was informed that the decision to decline invitation is not personal, but that it was Suton's wish. Suton was also called by Croatia National Team and it is yet to be seen if he will accept their invitation. Given the fact that he will participate in NBA summer League with Utah, it is likely that Suton may decide to skip on playing at Eurobasket even for Croatia. It is expected that Croatian Federation will likely receive Suton's answer regarding playing for them. Originaly born in Sarajevo, Goran Suton played for Michigan State in NCAA. This season in 33 games Suton averaged 10.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game and has helped his team win the Big Ten Regular Season Title. Suton was voted All-Big Ten 2nd Team and has made it to the Final Four this year. At the recenltly held NBA Draft, Suton was chosen by Utah Jazz as 50th pick.
