Nikolina Milic's double-double lands her Player of the Week award among Bosnians playing currently abroad - Nov 19, 2012

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Bosnia and Herzegovina players, who play currently abroad.


Nikolina Milic

   #1. This week's number one is former U18 international center Nikolina Milic (195-94, currently plays in Serbia). She led Radnicki KG to a victory over the closely-ranked Student Radnicki (4-5) 56-39 in the Serbian A League in Sunday night's game. Milic was MVP of the game. She had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 13 rebounds. Milic also added 2 blocks and 3 steals in 31 minutes on the court. Radnicki Kragujevac (5-3) is placed fourth in the A League. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Milic is currently first on the league's list of best rebounders and also on the list of best blockers (fourth place). She has very reliable stats this year: 14.4ppg, 8.6rpg, 1.3bpg, 2FGP: 53.7% and FT: 61.4% in the eight games she played so far. Milic played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Biljana Savic (191-83, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in Bulgaria), who plays in the Bulgarian NBL. She could not help one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams Beroe (4-2) in their last game. Despite Savic's very good performance Beroe was badly defeated 79-63 on the road by the second-ranked Dunav 8806. She was the second best scorer with 16 points in 30 minutes. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Savic's first year with the team. Savic has relatively good stats this season: 14.3ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.0apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 49.3%, 3FGP: 37.5% in the six games. She played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team in 2011.

   #3. The Bosnia and Herzegovina player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Matea Tavic (178-92, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Adriatic League), who plays in Slovenia. Tavic was not able to help the league outsider Ilrija (0-8) in their last game on Saturday. Despite her good performance the 11th-placed Ilrija was edged 72-69 in Novi Grad by the higher-ranked Sloboda (#8) in the group T of Adriatic League. Tavic was the second best scorer with 14 points. She also added 5 rebounds. This season Tavic has relatively solid stats: 13.3ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 50.8%, 3FGP: 15.2% and FT: 61.8%. She played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team one years ago.

   #4. Center Emina Demirovic (186-85, currently plays in Romania) was the major contributor in Sp.Studentesc's victory against one of league's weakest teams Olimpia (1-10) crushing them 87-44 in a derby game in the Romanian Division A last Saturday. Demirovic had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 18 rebounds in 33 minutes. CSM Sportul Studentesc Bucuresti (4-6) is placed eighth in the Division A. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Demirovic is ranked sixth on the list of the best rebounders in the league with 9.2rpg. This year she also averages: 12.0ppg, 1.3apg and 1.4spg in the nine games. Demirovic used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

   #5. Former U18 international guard Irena Vrancic (167-90, currently plays in Adriatic League) was not able to secure a victory for Vozdovac (5-3) in their game against Vojvodina (4-4) in the Adriatic League. Vrancic scored 8 points, had 5 boards, passed 5 assists and added 3 steals. Vozdovac (#5) was defeated 80-67 in Novi Sad by the lower-ranked Vojvodina (#6) in the group T of Adriatic League. They ended the series of five consecutive victories. Vrancic is currently third on the list of best passers. This season she has very good stats: 12.6ppg, 2.8rpg, 4.5apg and 2.4spg. Vrancic used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team four years ago.

Dzenita Novi

   #6. Guard Dzenita Novi (180-93, currently plays in Slovenia) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams AJM Maribor (2-4) in their game against Jezica (3-3) in the Slovenian SKL, despite her good performance on Sunday night. She was the top scorer with 10 points. Novi also added 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 31 minutes. But AJM Maribor lost 43-58 at home to the higher-ranked (#5) Jezica. Novi is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her fourth year in AJM Maribor's roster. She is currently fifth on the league's list of best blockers with 0.7bpg. This year Novi's other stats are: 9.7ppg and 7.2rpg in the six games. She is a former U18 international player as she played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina team two years ago.

   #7. International guard Tamara Kapor (184-91, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked ZKK Vrsac (1-7) crushing them 76-44 in the Adriatic League in Saturday night's game. Kapor scored 11 points. Radivoj Korac Beograd (7-2) is placed second in group T. Kapor's overall stats this season are: 7.2ppg, 2.0rpg and 2.0apg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

   #8. Forward Vanja Milosevic (182-91, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to a Srbobran Reahem's victory against the 12th-ranked Celarevo (0-8) 79-74 in the Serbian A League last Saturday. Milosevic scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 27 minutes. Srbobran Reahem (4-4) is placed fifth in the A League. It was her team's first victory after three consecutive loses. This year Milosevic's overall stats are: 8.3ppg and 5.1rpg in the eight games. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team back in 2009.

   #9. International center Dragana Svitlica (190-88, currently plays in Hungary) couldn't help Atomeromu (6-2) in their game against UNI Gyor (7-2) in the Hungarian A Division. Svitlica recorded 9 points. But the league leader Atomeromu was crushed 103-58 in Gyor by the second-ranked UNI Gyor. It's Svitlica's first season with the team. Svitlica is currently first on the league's list of best blockers. Her total stats this season are: 9.8ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.1apg and 1.5bpg. Svitlica used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

   #10. Forward Martina Jazic (185-90, currently plays in Croatia) couldn't help Pleter (2-4) in their game against KK Zadar (4-2) in the Croatian A1. She scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 17 minutes. Pleter was badly defeated 87-68 in Zadar by the higher-ranked (#5) KK Zadar. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This year Jazic's total stats are: 7.2ppg and 6.2rpg in the five games. She is a former U18 international player as five years ago she still played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

   #11. International power forward Anja Stupar (180-89, currently plays in Adriatic League) faced previously mentioned Irena Vrancic in the Adriatic League last game. Stupar managed to help Vojvodina Nis Novi Sad to win against the closely-ranked Vozdovac 80-67. She scored only 2 points, had 10 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Stupar has averaged so far 6.0ppg, 6.1rpg, 2.1apg and 1.5spg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

   #12. Former U18 international guard Mirela Barac (92, currently plays in Croatia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Martina Jazic. But that was another game of her team in Croatian A1 which we would like to mention. Barac helped Pleter win their game against the closely-ranked Ragusa 70-62. She scored only 2 points. This season Barac averages just 1.7ppg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team back in 2010.

   #13. Former international guard Marija Kovac (175-89, currently plays in Croatia) couldn't help Tresnjevka in their game against Lupa Promotion in the Croatian A1. Kovac cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. She scored only 3 points in 24 minutes. Her team was crushed by 50 points 93-43. Kovac has averaged so far 4.2ppg and 2.0rpg in the five games. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team four years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Bosnia and Herzegovina passport but never been selected to any of Bosnia and Herzegovina national teams:

   #1. Aleksandra Begenisic (193-C-89, currently plays in Greece), who plays in the Greek A1 could not help one of league's weakest teams Aris (4-3) in their last game on Sunday. Despite her very good performance Aris was crushed 70-36 in a derby game by the higher-ranked PAOK (#4). Begenisic was the top scorer with 16 points. She also added 8 rebounds. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Begenisic's first year with the team. Begenisic has relatively good stats this season: 12.0ppg and 7.8rpg.

   #2. Selma Delibasic (193-C-80, currently plays in Italy) was the major contributor in Calabria's victory against the 11th-ranked Viterbo (1-6) 56-39 in the Italian A2 (12th division) on Saturday night. She recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 13 rebounds. Delibasic also added and 5 steals. Olympia 68 Reggio Calabria (3-4) is placed eighth in South group. It's Delibasic's first season with the team. Delibasic is currently fourth on the league's list of best rebounders. Her overall stats this season are: 9.7ppg, 10.1rpg and 1.6spg.

   #3. Antonela Anic (177-F-85, currently plays in Croatia), who plays in the Croatian A1 was not able to help Studenac Omis (1-4) in their last game. Despite Anic's good performance Studenac Omis was crushed 87-60 on the road by the leading Lupa Promotion. She had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 10 rebounds. Anic also added 4 assists in 40 minutes. It was Studenac Omis' fourth consecutive loss in a row. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Anic's first year with the team. Anic is currently seventh on the list of best rebounders and also on the list of most steals (fourth place). This year she has very good stats: 10.8ppg, 8.0rpg, 2.4apg and 3.0spg in the five games she played so far.

   #4. Viktorija Mestrovic (169-G-93, currently plays in Croatia) was not able to secure a victory for Croatia 2006 (1-1) in their game against Jolly (6-0) in the Croatian A1. Mestrovic scored only 4 points in 13 minutes. her team was crushed 112-73 at home by the second-ranked Jolly. This year Mestrovic averages just 2.4ppg in the five games.

   #5. Belma Subasic (168-G-95, currently plays in Switzerland), who plays in the Swiss LNA couldn't help Highflyers (1-7) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Subasic's very good performance Highflyers were defeated in an overtime 74-68 on their home court in Luzern by the higher-ranked Muraltese (#6). She was the second best scorer with 15 points. Subasic has averaged so far 3.9ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.9spg. She has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Swiss.

Play Off celebrate the title - 3 days ago
Play Off - Celik 78-57 Play Off celebrate the title after downing Celik 3-0 in the championship series. The hosts registered third consecutive victory 78-57. Play Off took an early lead and kept it until the final whistle. Nikolina Dzebo poured in 25 points for the winners, Cierra Ceazer added 22. Nedzla Kovacevic responded with 13 for Celik.   [read more]

Play Off celebrate victory in Game 2 of Finals - 8 days ago
Celik - Play Off 61:62 Play Off clinched the second straight victory in the championship series. This time they earned a tough road victory. A Delic and Nikolina Dzebo (186-C-95) came up with 18 points each for the winners. Celik secured a strong start. They grabbed a 16:9 lead ten minutes into the game. Play Off though denied the deficit in the second term. They levelled things up at 28 heading into the locker rooms. Play-off posts opening win - 10 days ago
Play-off posted the opening win in the Finals. They overcame Celik 71-51 as they dominated the majority of the game. Andjela Delic (184-G-96, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up with 17 points in a win and Ines Corda (169-PG-95, agency: BeoBasket) netted 15. Nedzla Kovacevic (185-F-97) finished the game with 13 points in a loss and Anida Corovic(170-PG-95) had 12 points. The second game is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17th.   [read more]
