Division I Round 8: Bosna ASA BHT beats Mladost by one after a very close game - Dec 10, 2012

Coincidentally all hosts won their games.

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Division I took place in Sarajevo. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Mladost (6-2) to fifth ranked Bosna ASA BHT (5-4) 82-81 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Mladost. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-19. But Mladost won second period 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Ramo Rizvic (200-87) saved the victory by scoring 17 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. International point guard Armin Avdibegovic (188-84) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Bosna ASA BHT's coach Emir Halimic used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Montenegrin power forward Igor Bijelic (207-88) replied with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for Mladost. Bosna ASA BHT have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 5-4 record. Mladost at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Radnik B.. Bosna ASA BHT are looking forward to face Leotar (#9) in Trebinje in the next round. Mladost will play at home against Servitium (#7) in Gradiska and is hoping to win this game.
Division I top team - Capljina Lasta (7-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventh ranked Kakanj (3-5) 76-60. Capljina Lasta have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record. Newly promoted Kakanj dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Varda HE and Leotar. Capljina Lasta will play against Varda HE (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kakanj will play against Radnik B. in Bijeljina and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game between fourth ranked Borac Nektar (5-3) and 7th ranked Leotar (3-5) in Banja Luka on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Borac Nektar outscored guests from Trebinje 85-66. The winners were led by Stefan Matic who scored that evening 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Borac Nektar's coach Drago Karalic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by Vladimir Aleksic did not help to save the game for Leotar. Borac Nektar maintains fourth position with 5-3 record. Loser Leotar dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Kakanj and Varda HE. Borac Nektar will meet Vogosca (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leotar will play against Bosna ASA BHT in Sarajevo and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: Varda HE was beaten by Servitium on the road 87-81. Zrinjski HT won against Vogosca on its own court 110-102. Bottom-ranked Posusje unfortunately lost to Radnik B. in Bijeljina 64-77.



Servitium - Varda HE 87-81

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Servitium (3-4) beat 8th ranked Varda HE (3-5) in Gradiska 87-81 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-16. But Varda HE won second period 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Servitium made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Srdan Golubovic (198-87) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian guard Milos Tripkovic (197-91, agency: Beo Basket) supported him with 15 points and 5 assists. Even 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by Montenegrin point guard Darko Kastratovic (189-88, agency: BeoExcell) did not help to save the game for Varda HE. Naturalized Serbian guard Marko Josilo (201-92) added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the guests. Four Servitium and five Varda HE players scored in double figures. Varda HE's coach Dragoljub Vidacic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Servitium moved-up to seventh place. Varda HE lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with Kakanj and Leotar. Servitium will meet league's second-placed Mladost in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Varda HE will play against the league's leader Capljina Lasta (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.

Capljina - Kakanj 76-60

Division I top team - Capljina Lasta (7-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventh ranked Kakanj (3-5) 76-60. The game was mostly controlled by Capljina Lasta. Kakanj was better in third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Capljina Lasta won last quarter 21-7. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kakanj to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Capljina Lasta have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record. Newly promoted Kakanj dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Varda HE and Leotar. Capljina Lasta will play against Varda HE (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kakanj will play against Radnik B. in Bijeljina and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Zrinjski HT - Vogosca 110-102

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Vogosca (2-6) lost to ninth ranked Zrinjski HT (4-5) in Mostar 102-110 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 63-54 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zrinjski HT made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Zrinjski HT outrebounded Vogosca 39-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by Montenegrin center Boris Lalovic (209-81) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Serbian point guard Edi Sinadinovic (193-88) supported him with 23 points and 12 assists. Even 29 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by the former international forward Mujo Tuljkovic (203-79, agency: Beo Basket) did not help to save the game for Vogosca. Montenegrin guard Armin Hot (192-92) added 26 points and 9 assists for the guests. Five Zrinjski HT and four Vogosca players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zrinjski HT moved-up to sixth place. Vogosca lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with six games lost. Zrinjski HT will meet bottom-ranked Posusje (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Vogosca will play against Borac Nektar in Banja Luka and hope to secure a win.

Radnik B. - Posusje 77-64

Very predictable result when third ranked Radnik B. (6-2) won against bottom-ranked Posusje (1-6) in Bijeljina 77-64 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 21-6 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Radnik B. dominated on the defensive end, holding Posusje to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 22 Posusje turnovers and outrebounded them 30-19. The winners were led by guard Vladimir Radovanovic (191-81) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 assists and Montenegrin power forward Filip Goranovic (205-85) supported him with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Radnik B.'s coach Predrag Jacimovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 17 points by guard Ivan Begic (194-92) did not help to save the game for Posusje. Croatian guard Ivan Bakovic (197-81) added 14 points and 5 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Radnik B. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Mladost. Posusje lost fourth consecutive game. Posusje at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Radnik B. will meet Kakanj (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Posusje will play against Zrinjski HT (#6) in Mostar.

He has played for the last four seasons at Spars Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I. In 23 games he had 4.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.3apg last season.
