Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Bosnians who are currently playing abroad.


Ana Niksic

   #1. This week's number one is former U18 international forward Ana Niksic (181-91, currently plays in Serbia). She contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Student Radnicki (7-6) crushing them 72-48 in the Serbian A League in Wednesday night's game. Niksic recorded 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 33 minutes on the court. Crvena Zvezda Beograd (12-1) is placed first in the A League. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Niksic is currently fifth on the league's list of most steals with 2.5spg. She also averaged so far 10.5ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 45.6%, 3FGP: 31.8% and FT: 64.7% in the 11 games she played so far. Niksic played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team four years ago.

Dragana Svitlica

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Dragana Svitlica (190-88, currently plays in Hungary), who plays in the Hungarian A Division. She could not help Atomeromu (9-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Svitlica's very good performance Atomeromu was edged 67-65 on the road by the one of league's weakest teams BSE-FCSM (#9). She was the top scorer with 22 points. Svitlica also added 6 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Svitlica's first season with the team. Svitlica is ranked first on the list of the best blockers in the league. She has very reliable stats this season: 11.7ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.4bpg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 51.1% and FT: 77.3%. Svitlica played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team in 2011.

Nikolina Milic

   #3. The Bosnia and Herzegovina player who performed third best last week abroad was former U18 international center Nikolina Milic (195-94, currently plays in Serbia). She was the major contributor in a Radnicki KG's victory against the tenth-ranked Beocin (3-10) crushing them 71-49 in the Serbian A League on Sunday night. Milic scored 13 points in only a mere 12 minutes. Radnicki Kragujevac (9-3) is placed third in the A League. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Milic is currently fifth on the list of best rebounders and also on the list of best blockers (fifth place). This year she has very good stats: 13.3ppg, 7.6rpg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 53.4% and FT: 55.6% in the 12 games. Milic played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team two years ago.

Amra Mehmedic

   #4. Guard Amra Mehmedic (177-81, currently plays in Bulgaria) led Haskovo 2012 to a victory over the second-ranked Rilski Sportist (7-2) 79-62 in the Bulgarian NBL in Sunday night's game. She was MVP of the game. Mehmedic recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and making 10 passes. She also added 5 rebounds and 4 steals (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). Haskovo 2012 (4-6) is placed second from the bottom (#6) in the NBL. Mehmedic has individually a very good season with high stats. She averages: 15.7ppg, 5.0rpg, 8.7apg and 4.7spg. Mehmedic used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

   #5. International guard Matea Tavic (178-92, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams AJM Maribor (2-7) crushing them 91-58 in the Slovenian SKL last Wednesday. She recorded 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 29 minutes. KED Panter Ilirija Ljubljana (6-3) is placed fourth in the SKL. Tavic belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #6 with 15.8ppg. This year she also averages: 3.9rpg, 1.8apg and 1.1spg in the eight games. Tavic used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

Alma Kovacevic

   #6. Power forward Alma Kovacevic (186-83, currently plays in Bulgaria) is a teammate of previously mentioned Amra Mehmedic and both played together in the last Bulgarian NBL game. Kovacevic contributed to an easy victory against the second-ranked Rilski Sportist (7-2) 79-62. She recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 13 rebounds. Kovacevic also added 3 assists and 4 blocks. Kovacevic has relatively good stats this season: 11.7ppg, 12.7rpg and 2.0bpg. She is a former international player as she played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior team two years ago.

   #7. Former U18 international forward Vanja Milosevic (182-91, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to a 3-point Srbobran Reahem's victory against the closely-ranked Sumadija KG (4-8) 69-66 in the Serbian A League in Saturday night's game. Milosevic scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Srbobran Reahem (6-7) is placed sixth in the A League. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Milosevic's overall stats this season are: 7.3ppg and 5.1rpg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team three years ago.

   #8. Center Biljana Savic (191-83, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in Bulgaria) was not able to help Beroe (4-6) in their game against Rilski Sportist (7-2) in the Bulgarian NBL. Savic scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 32 minutes. Beroe lost 61-70 in Samokov to the second-ranked Rilski Sportist. It was Beroe's fourth consecutive loss in a row. This year Savic has relatively solid stats: 13.4ppg, 6.4rpg, 2.6apg and 1.5spg in the eight games. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

International guard Tamara Kapor (184-91, currently plays in Adriatic League) was not able to secure a victory for Radivoj Korac (9-3) in their game against Vojvodina (8-4) in the Adriatic League. Kapor recorded 8 points. The third-placed Radivoj Korac was edged 64-62 in Novi Sad by the lower-ranked Vojvodina (#4) in the group T of Adriatic League. It was Radivoj Korac's first loss after three consecutive victories. Kapor's overall stats this season are: 7.3ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.7apg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

   #10. Guard Dzenita Novi (180-93, currently plays in Slovenia) faced previously mentioned Matea Tavic in the Slovenian SKL last game. Novi couldn't help AJM Maribor (2-7) in their game against Ilrija (6-3). She recorded only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 18 minutes. AJM Maribor was crushed 91-58 in Ljubljana by the higher-ranked (#4) Ilrija. It was AJM Maribor's fifth consecutive loss in a row. Novi is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her fourth year in AJM Maribor's roster. This season Novi's overall stats are: 9.8ppg, 7.8rpg and 1.1apg in the nine games. She is a former U18 international player as two years ago she still played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

   #11. Former U18 international guard Mirela Barac (92, currently plays in Croatia) managed to help ZKK Pleter to win against the closely-ranked ZKK Split 95-79 in the Croatian A1 last Saturday. Barac recorded only 4 points. Her total stats this season are: 1.8ppg and 1.8rpg. Barac used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team two years ago.

   #12. Former international guard Marija Kovac (175-89, currently plays in Croatia) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Tresnjevka in their game against KK Zadar in the Croatian A1. She cannot count Tuesday's game as one of the best ones. Kovac scored only 2 points in 30 minutes. Her team lost 58-70. This year Kovac's total stats are: 2.6ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.1apg in the nine games. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team back in 2008.


The list of other players, who all have Bosnia and Herzegovina passport but never been selected to any of Bosnia and Herzegovina national teams:

   #1. Selma Delibasic (193-C-80, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian A2 (12th division) could not help Calabria (3-8) in their last game. Despite Delibasic's very good performance the tenth-placed Calabria was edged 68-67 on the road by the higher-ranked (#9) Salerno in the South group. She was the top scorer with 22 points. Delibasic also added 5 rebounds in 40 minutes. It was Calabria's fourth consecutive loss in a row. This year Delibasic has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg, 9.1rpg and 1.1spg in the 11 games she played so far.

   #2. Aleksandra Begenisic (193-C-89, currently plays in Greece), who plays in the Greek A1 was not able to help Aris (5-6) in their last game on Sunday. Despite her good performance Aris was defeated 57-43 at home by the higher-ranked AO Ellinikou (#3). Begenisic was the top scorer with 12 points. She also added 4 rebounds. This season Begenisic has relatively solid stats: 10.3ppg and 6.4rpg.

   #3. Antonela Anic (177-F-85, currently plays in Croatia) was the major contributor in a Studenac Omis' surprising victory against the fifth-ranked KK Zadar (5-5) 66-53 in the Croatian A1 on Saturday night. She recorded 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. ZKK Studenac Omis (2-8) is placed second from the bottom (#11) in the A1. It was her team's first victory after eight consecutive loses. Anic belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #6 with 7.7rpg. This year her other stats are: 10.9ppg, 1.5apg and 2.8spg in the 10 games.   



Jedinstvo Aida, the European Champion 1989 - 3 days ago
28 years ago, "Jedinstvo Aida" (Tuzla) won European Champions' Cup ( i.e. today's Euroleague). "Jedinstvo Aida" won Europe's most prestigious women's basketball trophy by beating "Primigi" Vicenza of Italy 74:70 (37:35) in the Champions' Cup final in Florence on March 22, 1989. It was a bitter defeat for Primigi, who had dominated European basketball by winning the Cup five times in a raw prior to defeat in 1989. Division I Round 17: Celik hands first defeat to Play Off - 3 days ago
Play Off (15-1) recorded its first loss in Zenica on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Celik (14-2) 90-89. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Play Off. Celik have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Newly promoted Celik maintains third place with 14-2 record behind leader Play Off.
