We bring you last week's top performances from Bosnians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.


Ana Niksic

   #1. This week's number one is former U18 international forward Ana Niksic (181-91, currently plays in Serbia). She led Crvena Zvezda to a victory over the closely-ranked Radnicki KG (9-4) crushing them 92-61 in the Serbian A League in Sunday night's game. Niksic was MVP of the game. She had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 12 rebounds. Niksic also added and 4 steals in 30 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Crvena Zvezda Beograd (13-1) is placed first in the A League. It was her team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Niksic is ranked fifth on the list of the most steals in the league with 2.7spg. She also averaged so far 11.5ppg, 5.8rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 48.8%, 3FGP: 36.0% and FT: 65.9% in the 12 games she played so far. Niksic played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team four years ago.

Amra Mehmedic

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Amra Mehmedic (177-81, currently plays in Bulgaria), who plays in the Bulgarian NBL. She could not help Haskovo 2012 (5-7) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Mehmedic's very good performance Haskovo 2012 was crushed 87-58 on the road by the leading Neftochimic. She was the top scorer with 33 points. Mehmedic also added 4 boards, dished 4 assists and stole 5 balls. It's Mehmedic's first season with the team. She has individually a very good year with high stats. Mehmedic averages: 20.6ppg, 4.6rpg, 6.8apg, 4.8spg, 2FGP: 43.3%, 3FGP: 41.9% and FT: 92.3%. She played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team in 2011.

Nikolina Milic

   #3. The Bosnia and Herzegovina player who performed third best last week abroad was former U18 international center Nikolina Milic (195-94, currently plays in Serbia) faced previously mentioned Ana Niksic in the Serbian A League last game. Milic, who plays in the Serbian A League. She was not able to help Radnicki KG (9-4) in their last game. Despite Milic's very good performance Radnicki KG was crushed 92-61 at home by the leading Crvena Zvezda. She was the second best scorer with 16 points. Milic also added 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 22 minutes. They ended the series of seven consecutive victories. Milic is currently seventh on the league's list of best rebounders and also on the list of best blockers (third place). She has very reliable stats this year: 13.5ppg, 7.5rpg, 1.2bpg, 2FGP: 53.2% and FT: 58.1% in the 13 games. Milic played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team two years ago.

Guard Matea Tavic (178-92, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Slovenia) was the main contributor in Ilrija's victory against the league leader Athlete Celje (9-1) 58-42 in the Slovenian SKL in Saturday night's game. She was the best player in that game. Tavic scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. KED Panter Ilirija Ljubljana (7-3) is placed fourth in the SKL. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Tavic belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #6. This season she has very high stats. Tavic averages: 16.0ppg, 4.1rpg, 1.6apg and 1.3spg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

International center Emina Demirovic (186-85, currently plays in Romania) was the major contributor in Sp.Studentesc's victory against the closely-ranked Cluj Napoca (3-11) 65-54 in the Romanian Division A last Monday. Demirovic had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 15 rebounds. She also added and 3 steals in 29 minutes. CSM Sportul Studentesc Bucuresti (6-8) is placed tenth in the Division A. Demirovic is ranked second on the list of the best rebounders in the league with 9.8rpg. This year she also averages: 11.6ppg, 1.2apg and 1.5spg in the 13 games. Demirovic used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

   #6. Center Biljana Savic (191-83, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in Bulgaria), who plays in the Bulgarian NBL was not able to secure a victory for Beroe (4-8) in their last game. Despite Savic's very good performance Beroe was badly defeated 79-60 on their home court in Stara Zagora by the second-ranked Dunav 8806. She was the second best scorer with 15 points. Savic also added 5 rebounds, 3 assists and made 2 blocks in 40 minutes. It was Beroe's sixth consecutive loss in a row. Savic has relatively good stats this year: 13.6ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.7apg and 1.4spg in the nine games. She is international player as she played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior team one years ago.

   #7. Former U18 international guard Irena Vrancic (167-90, currently plays in Adriatic League), who plays in Serbia couldn't help Vozdovac (6-6) in their last game. Despite her good performance the seventh-placed Vozdovac was edged 69-67 in Banja Luka by the higher-ranked (#6) Mladi Krajisnik in the group T of Adriatic League. Vrancic scored 14 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 34 minutes. It was Vozdovac's third consecutive loss in a row. Vrancic is the league's best passer with 4.7apg. This year her other stats are: 11.8ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.5spg in the 12 games. Vrancic used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team four years ago.

Dzenita Novi

   #8. Guard Dzenita Novi (180-93, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to an AJM Maribor's victory against one of league's weakest teams Odeja KED (2-8) 81-70 in the Slovenian SKL in Saturday night's game. She scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. AJM Maribor (3-7) is placed sixth in the SKL. It was her team's first victory after five consecutive loses. Novi is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her fourth year in AJM Maribor's roster. This season Novi has relatively solid stats: 10.4ppg and 7.5rpg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team back in 2010.

Former international power forward Alma Kovacevic (186-83, currently plays in Bulgaria) is a teammate of previously mentioned Amra Mehmedic and both played together in the last Bulgarian NBL game. Kovacevic couldn't help Haskovo 2012 (5-7) in their game against Neftochimic (12-0), despite her good performance last Saturday. She was the second best scorer with 12 points. Kovacevic also added 9 rebounds in 38 minutes. But Haskovo 2012 was crushed 87-58 in Burgas by the leading Neftochimic. Kovacevic has reliable stats this year: 11.4ppg, 11.4rpg, 1.6apg and 1.2bpg in the five games. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team two years ago.

   #10. Guard Marija Kovac (175-89, currently plays in Croatia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider ZKK Agram (0-11) crushing them 89-52 in the Croatian A1 in Saturday night's game. She scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 19 minutes. ZKK Tresnjevka 2009 (6-5) is placed fifth in the A1. This year Kovac's overall stats are: 3.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.2apg in the 10 games. She is a former international player as four years ago she still played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior national team.

   #11. International power forward Anja Stupar (180-89, currently plays in Adriatic League) couldn't help Vojvodina in their game against PEAC-PECS in the Adriatic League. Despite her good performance last Saturday Stupar scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line). Stupar's total stats this season are: 6.1ppg, 5.7rpg, 2.2apg and 1.8spg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

   #12. Former U18 international forward Vanja Milosevic (182-91, currently plays in Serbia) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Srbobran Reahem in their game against Stara Pazova in the Serbian A League. Milosevic scored 7 points and had 3 steals in 22 minutes. Her team was crushed by 24 points 69-45. This year Milosevic's total stats are: 7.3ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.1spg in the 14 games. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team back in 2009.

   #13. International forward Marina Dzinic (187-92, currently plays in Switzerland) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Highflyers crushing them 89-60 in the Swiss LNA in Saturday night's game. Dzinic recorded 17 points. Dzinic averaged so far 11.9ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.1spg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.


The list of other players, who all have Bosnia and Herzegovina passport but never been selected to any of Bosnia and Herzegovina national teams:

   #1. Antonela Anic (177-F-85, currently plays in Croatia) led Studenac Omis to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Ragusa (2-9) 57-53 in the Croatian A1 on Saturday night. She was the top player that evening. Anic scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. ZKK Studenac Omis (3-8) is placed tenth in the A1. Anic is currently sixth on the list of best rebounders. This season she has very good stats: 11.5ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.5apg and 2.6spg.

   #2. Selma Delibasic (193-C-80, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian A2 (12th division) could not help Calabria (3-9) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Delibasic's good performance the 11th-placed Calabria was defeated 58-54 at home by the higher-ranked Ancona (#8) in the South group. She recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Delibasic also added and 3 steals. This season Delibasic has relatively solid stats: 11.0ppg, 9.3rpg and 1.3spg.

   #3. Aleksandra Begenisic (193-C-89, currently plays in Greece), who plays in the Greek A1 was not able to help Aris (5-6) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Begenisic's good performance Aris was defeated 57-43 on their home court in Thessaloniki by the higher-ranked AO Ellinikou (#3). She was the top scorer with 12 points. Begenisic also added 4 rebounds. Begenisic's stats this season are: 10.3ppg and 6.4rpg.

   #4. Belma Subasic (168-G-95, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to secure a victory for Highflyers (1-12) in their game against Hope-GBA (9-4) in the Swiss LNA. Subasic recorded 9 points in 22 minutes. But the bottom-ranked Highflyers were crushed 89-60 on their home court in Luzern by the much higher-ranked (#3) Hope-GBA. It was Highflyers' 11th consecutive loss in a row. Subasic has averaged so far 4.4ppg, 1.5rpg and 1.5spg in the 13 games she played so far. She has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Swiss.

Montenegrin National team member Milica Milosev (186-F-93) has left Play Off Happy. Namely, Milosev had an open contract, which enabled her to leave in case of a better offer. German club Osnabruck (Division 2) has obviously offered financially better contract. Play Off Happy, who reached the second stage of the WABA League for the first time has a strong team with or without Milica Milosev.
