Here is the weekly review of the top performing Bosnia and Herzegovina players, who play currently abroad.


Dragana Svitlica

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Dragana Svitlica (190-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Spain). She led Socinsa Bembibre to a victory over the 11th-ranked Campus Promete (3-7) crushing them 93-68 in the Spanish LFB in Sunday night's game. Svitlica was MVP of the game. She recorded 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her six free throws) in 22 minutes on the court. Embutidos Pajariel Bembibre PDM (5-5) is placed fifth in the LFB. It was her team's first victory after three consecutive loses. It's Svitlica's first season with the team. This year Svitlica averages: 8.7ppg, 4.1rpg, 1.6apg, 3FGP: 21.4% and FT: 87.0% in 10 games she played so far. She is currently a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior national team.

Sasa Cado

   #2. Second place goes to former international guard Sasa Cado (178-89, currently plays in Turkey). Cado was the major contributor in an Istanbul Uni's victory against the eighth-ranked Mersin MBK (2-3) 79-74 in the Turkish KBSL last Saturday. She scored 15 points. Istanbul Universitesi SK (4-1) is placed third in the KBSL. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Cado's overall stats this year are: 7.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 2.3apg, 2FGP: 36.4%, 3FGP: 37.5% and FT: 66.7%. She has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbian. Cado played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team in 2008.

   #3. The Bosnia and Herzegovina player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Lynetta Kizer (193-90, college: Maryland, currently plays in Greece). Kizer contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Panathinaikos (7-1) crushing them 74-43 in the Greek A1 in Sunday night's game. She scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Olympiacos Pireus (6-0) is placed first in the A1. So far her team won all six games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Kizer has relatively good stats this year: 13.4ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.0apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 65.1%(28-43). She is a naturalized American. Despite Kizer played previously for the USA university national team, she is currently a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior national team. Strangely Kizer has never played in Bosnia.

   #4. Point guard Miljana Dzombeta (169-94, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to a 3-point Vrbas Medela's victory against the closely-ranked Sabac (4-4) 68-65 in the Serbian 1 ZLS last Saturday. She scored 13 points, grabbed 5 boards, dished 5 assists and stole 7 balls in 37 minutes. ZKK Vrbas Medela (4-4) is placed seventh in the 1 ZLS. Dzombeta is currently eighth on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best passers (fifth place). She has individually a very good year with high stats. Dzombeta averages: 15.8ppg, 3.9rpg, 4.5apg and 4.1spg in eight games. She is also Bosnia and Herzegovina national team player.

International guard Milica Deura (178-90, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (6-4) 64-48 in the German DBBL on Sunday night. Deura recorded 9 points. TSV 1880 Wasserburg (9-1) is placed first in the DBBL. It was her team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. This season Deura has relatively solid stats: 10.3ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.3apg. She plays currently for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

   #6. Guard Matea Tavic (178-92, currently plays in Romania) could not help Satu Mare (2-6) in their last game on Sunday. Despite her very good performance Satu Mare was defeated 80-72 at home by the second-ranked Cluj Napoca. Tavic was the top scorer with 17 points. She also added 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Tavic belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #7. She has very reliable stats this season: 10.2ppg, 2.7rpg and 4.3apg. Tavic is an international player who is currently on the senior Bosnia and Herzegovina National Team roster.

Former U18 international power forward Milina Miseljic (186-98, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Serbia) managed to help Crvena Zvezda Beograd in a victory against the closely-ranked Spartak (6-2) crushing them 80-48 in the Serbian 1 ZLS last Saturday. She scored 5 points in 18 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Crvena Zvezda Beograd (5-3) is placed fourth in the 1 ZLS. This year Miseljic's overall stats are: 3.8ppg and 3.1rpg in eight games. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team three years ago.

   #8. Guard Teodora Trebovac (170-96, currently plays in Serbia) faced previously mentioned Miljana Dzombeta in the Serbian 1 ZLS last game. Trebovac was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Sabac in their game against Vrbas Medela (4-4). She scored 8 points. Sabac was edged 68-65 on their home court in Sabac by the higher-ranked Vrbas Medela (#7). Trebovac's total stats this season are: 4.6ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.5apg and 1.5spg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team back in 2013.

International power forward Marica Gajic (187-95, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Girne Universitesi (0-5) in their game against Botas (2-3) in the Turkish KBSL. Gajic scored 9 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in 37 minutes. But the bottom-ranked Girne Universitesi lost 61-74 on the road to the higher-ranked (#10) Botas. So far Girne Universitesi lost all five games in the Regular Season. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Gajic is currently fourth on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). She has very impressive stats this year: 19.6ppg, 13.0rpg and 2.0apg in five games. Gajic is also in the roster of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

   #10. An experienced point guard Ksenija Mitric (162-1, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Domzale (0-7) crushing them 91-37 in the Slovenian SKL last Saturday. She scored only one point and had 4 steals. ZKK Athlete Celje (7-1) is placed second in the SKL. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. This season Mitric has very high stats. She averages: 19.6ppg, 13.0rpg and 2.0apg. Mitric is U16 international player who is currently on the Bosnia and Herzegovina National Team roster.

   #11. Former U18 international forward Valentina Galusic (182-96, currently plays in Central Europe Women League) couldn't help Kvarner (0-2) in their last game. Despite her good performance the seventh-placed Kvarner was crushed 71-45 in Ostrava by the higher-ranked (#4) SBS Ostrava in the Group B of A2. Galusic was the second best scorer with 13 points. She also added 5 rebounds in 39 minutes. Galusic has very impressive stats this year: 19.6ppg, 13.0rpg and 2.0apg in five games. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team two years ago.

   #12. International power forward Irma Rahmanovic (187-91, currently plays in France) couldn't help Reims in their game against Dunkerque in the French LF2 (second division). Rahmanovic scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Her team was defeated 70-59. Rahmanovic's total stats this season are: 5.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.3apg and 1.6spg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team last year.

   #13. International guard Irena Vrancic (167-90, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Al-Qazeres in their game against Araski in the Spanish LFB. Vrancic cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. She recorded only 2 points in 12 minutes. Her team was edged 67-64. This year Vrancic's total stats are: 2.7ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.4apg in 10 games. She is also Bosnia and Herzegovina national team player.

   #14. Former international power forward Anja Stupar (180-89, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Rhein Main Baskets in their game against Speyer / Schifferstadt in the German 2.Bundesliga (second division). Stupar scored 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Her team was defeated 65-57. Stupar has reliable stats this season: 11.8ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.9apg and 2.3spg. She used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team back in 2011.

   #15. U20 international center Sara Boric (196-96, college: N.Carolina St., currently plays in Croatia) contributed to Sibenik's victory against the fourth-ranked Plamen Pozega 72-68 in the Croatian A1 in Saturday night's game. Boric scored only 4 points in 7 minutes on the court. Boric has averaged so far 6.3ppg, 1.8rpg, 1.2apg and 1.2spg in six games. She is also in the roster of the Bosnia and Herzegovina U20 national team.


The list of other players, who all have Bosnia and Herzegovina passport but never been selected to any of Bosnia and Herzegovina national teams:

   #1. Experienced Anja Perko (170-PG-0, currently plays in Croatia) led Pula C.Tours to an easy victory against the league outsider Brod na Savi (0-7) crushing them 93-71 in the Croatian A1 on Sunday night. She scored 16 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 8 assists in 38 minutes. ZKK Pula Crnja Tours (4-3) is placed fourth in the A1. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Perko has relatively good stats this year: 10.8ppg, 3.5rpg, 3.3apg and 1.3spg in six games she played so far. She has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatian. Despite Perko's Bosnia and Herzegovina passport, she currently plays for the Croatian U16 national team and is not eligible to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina team.

   #2. Ines Bosnjic (183-C-91, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Vojvodina (0-8) crushing them 119-63 in the Serbian 1 ZLS in Saturday night's game. Bosnjic scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 19 minutes. ZKK Swisslion Vrsac (6-2) is placed fourth in the 1 ZLS. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Bosnjic's overall stats are: 5.8ppg and 2.8rpg in eight games.

   #3. Rada Vidovic (177-G-79, currently plays in Serbia) could not help Spartak (6-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite her good performance Spartak was crushed 80-48 at home by the lower-ranked Crvena Zvezda (#4). Vidovic was the top scorer with 10 points. She also added 3 passes. Vidovic's overall stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 4.4rpg, 3.0apg and 2.5spg.

   #4. Aleksandra Begenisic (193-C-89, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Maquinaria Ensino in their game against Azkoitia (3-6) in the Spanish LF2 (second division), despite her very good performance on Sunday night. She was the top scorer with 22 points. Begenisic also added 4 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 30 minutes. But the tenth-placed Maquinaria Ensino (3-6) lost 67-73 on the road to the higher-ranked (#9) Azkoitia in the Group A. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Begenisic has reliable stats this year: 14.0ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.5bpg in two games.

Goran Lojo has been named the Bosnian Women's National Team head coach. Goran Lojo has experience working with the U18 National Selection. He has worked lately with Play Off Sarajevo. Goran Lojo guided the team to the Bosnian Cup trophy back in 2017. He also guided Play Off to League titles in 2016 and 2017.   [read more]
