Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Bosnians who are currently playing abroad.


Miralem Halilovic

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Miralem Halilovic (205-91, currently plays in Croatia). He led GKK Sibenik to a 2-point victory over the eighth-ranked KK Zagreb (10-11) 85-83 in the Croatian A1 in Friday night's game. Halilovic was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 11 rebounds. Halilovic also added 5 assists in 36 minutes on the court. GKK Sibenik (18-4) is placed second in the A1. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Halilovic's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 14.7ppg, 7.3rpg, 3.6apg, 1.3bpg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 62.2%(130-209) and FT: 55.1% in 21 games he played so far. Halilovic is currently a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former U18 international small forward Ivan Ramljak (203-90, currently plays in Croatia). He led KK Zadar to a victory over the closely-ranked Cibona (15-6) 90-80 in the Croatian A1 last Sunday. Ramljak was the best player in that game. He recorded 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. KK Zadar (9-9) is placed sixth in the A1. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Ramljak has relatively solid stats: 10.1ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 64.3%(18-28), 3FGP: 37.5% and FT: 75.0%. He has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatian. Former KK Siroki TT Kabeli starter played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team in 2005.

   #3. The Bosnia and Herzegovina player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Ognjen Kuzmic (213-90, currently plays in ABA League). Kuzmic contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Buducnost (18-8) 82-67 in the ABA League on Sunday night. He recorded 14 points in a mere 18 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd (25-1) is placed first in the ABA League. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. This year Kuzmic averages: 9.8ppg, 5.4rpg, 2FGP: 67.1%(96-143) and FT: 70.7% in 25 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbian. Kuzmic played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team five years ago.

   #4. Center Jusuf Nurkic (213-94, currently plays in NBA) was the major contributor in a Portland Trail Blazers' victory against the Miami Heat (35-38) 115-104 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 12 rebounds. Nurkic also added 3 blocks. The Portland Trail Blazers have 35-37 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Nurkic has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 14.0ppg, 9.9rpg, 3.4apg, 1.9bpg and 1.3spg. Nurkic has both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian nationalities. Despite he played previously for the Slovenian U16 national team, Nurkic is currently in the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team roster.

International guard Zack Wright (191-85, college: Central Mo., currently plays in France) contributed to Monaco's victory against the 14th-ranked Hyeres-Toulon (9-15) 80-71 in the French ProA last Saturday. He scored 10 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 27 minutes. AS Monaco Basket (21-3) is placed first in the ProA. This year Wright's overall stats are: 7.7ppg, 2.9rpg and 3.9apg in 23 games. He is a naturalized American. Wright plays currently for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Strangely he has never played in Bosnia.

Center Elmedin Kikanovic (211-88, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a 1-point ALBA Berlin's victory against the closely-ranked BBC Bayreuth (18-7) 77-76 in the German BBL on Friday night. Kikanovic scored 17 points and added 3 assists. ALBA Berlin (17-10) is placed fifth in the BBL. This season Kikanovic has very high stats. He averages: 16.8ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.6apg. Kikanovic is an international player who is currently on the senior Bosnia and Herzegovina National Team roster.

He scored 14 points in 26 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. KK Cedevita Zagreb (17-5) is placed third in the A1. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Musa has reliable stats this year: 13.5ppg, 3.5rpg and 2.2apg in 17 games. He is also Bosnia and Herzegovina national team player.

Djedovic scored 9 points. FC Bayern Muenchen (22-3) is placed third in the BBL. It was his team's 12th consecutive victory in a row. Djedovic is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Bayern Muenchen's roster. His total stats this season are: 9.4ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.2apg. Djedovic plays currently for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

International swingman Nikola Gajic (195-91, college: SF Austin, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to a KK Primorska's victory against the fourth-ranked Terme Olimia (5-7) 78-72 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM on Sunday night. He scored 16 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 29 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Gajic's third season in pro basketball. Sixt Primorska (11-1) is placed first in Places 7-12 group. This year Gajic's total stats are: 9.9ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.5apg and 1.5spg in 24 games. He is also in the roster of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Power forward Jozo Brkic (211-86, currently plays in Croatia) helped Jolly win their game against the 11th-ranked Alkar Sinj (6-16) crushing them 101-76 in the Croatian A1 in Saturday night's game. Brkic recorded 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Jolly Jadranska Banka Sibenik (17-5) is placed fourth in the A1. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important. Brkic has averaged so far 10.0ppg and 4.6rpg. Despite he played previously for the Croatian U20 national team, Brkic is also a former international player as five years ago he still played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior national team.

   #11. U20 international swingman Aleksandar Lazic (201-96, currently plays in Serbia) helped Dynamic BG win their game against the 11th-ranked OKK Beograd crushing them 90-68 in a derby game in the Serbian KLS last Saturday. He recorded 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 27 minutes. Lazic has averaged so far 9.9ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.2apg and 1.5spg in 19 games. He plays currently for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U20 national team.

   #12. Former U18 international forward Dejan Jeftic (197-89, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in Sweden) was the main contributor in a Norrkoping Dolphins' victory against one of league's weakest teams Umea crushing them 82-60 in the Swedish Basketligan last Thursday. Jeftic was the top player that evening. He scored 22 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Jeftic averaged so far 12.3ppg and 4.5rpg. He used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team back in 2007.

   #13. International center Andrija Stipanovic (209-86, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Turkey). Stipanovic could not help Demir IBB to beat Besiktas. He scored 8 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 27 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 17 points 84-67. Stipanovic has averaged so far 9.6ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.7apg in 23 games. He is also Bosnia and Herzegovina national team player.

   #14. International forward Mirza Teletovic (206-85, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in NBA) helped Milwaukee Bucks win their game against the Sacramento Kings 116-98 in the NBA in Wednesday night's game. Teletovic scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 20 minutes. He has averaged so far 6.5ppg and 2.3rpg in 61 games. Teletovic plays currently for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

   #15. International point guard Alex Renfroe (191-86, another player represented by BeoBasket, college: Belmont, currently plays in Spain) helped FC Barcelona win their game against the eighth-ranked Andorra crushing them 102-65 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Sunday. He scored 6 points. Renfroe has averaged so far 5.6ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.2apg. He is a naturalized American. Renfroe is also in the roster of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Apparently he has never played in Bosnia.


The list of other players, who all have Bosnia and Herzegovina passport but never been selected to any of Bosnia and Herzegovina national teams:

   #1. Boris Barac (205-F-92, currently plays in Croatia) led KK Zadar to a victory against the closely-ranked Cibona (15-6) 90-80 in the Croatian A1 on Sunday night. Barac recorded 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. KK Zadar (9-9) is placed sixth in the A1. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Barac averaged so far 10.6ppg, 3.8rpg and 2.2apg.

   #2. Robert Rothbart (217-C-86, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in Israel) contributed to a Hapoel Eilat's victory against the eighth-ranked Maccabi Rishon (11-13) 94-85 in the Israeli Winner League in Monday night's game. He scored 15 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks in a mere 15 minutes. Hapoel Eilat (14-10) is placed fourth in the Winner League. Rothbart has averaged so far 7.1ppg and 4.0rpg in 24 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Israeli.

   #3. Marko Dujkovic (226-C-90, currently plays in Serbia) could not help Metalac (11-11) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Dujkovic's very good performance Metalac was defeated 79-74 at home by the higher-ranked Beovuk 72 (#6). He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Dujkovic also added 4 shots. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Dujkovic has averaged so far 8.7ppg, 6.0rpg and 2.1bpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Bosnia and Herzegovina and FYR Macedonian.

   #4. Dragan Djuranovic (203-C/F-88, currently plays in Slovenia) helped Rogaska edge the fourth-ranked Un.Olimpija (1-1) 75-74 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM last Saturday. Djuranovic scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 22 minutes. Rogaska Crystal (2-0) is placed second in Places 1-6 group. Djuranovic's stats this year are: 11.0ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.4apg and 1.2spg in 22 games.

   #5. Vedran Borovcanin (200-G/F-85, currently plays in Denmark) led Horsens IC to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Randers (10-18) crushing them 112-80 in the Danish Ligaen on Tuesday night. He was the top player that evening. Borovcanin recorded 22 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Horsens IC (23-5) is placed second in the Ligaen. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Borovcanin has been at the team for four years. He averaged so far 11.7ppg, 4.7rpg, 3.3apg and 2.0spg.

   #6. Mirza Begic (216-C-85, currently plays in Croatia) helped Cedevita win their game against the closely-ranked Jolly 82-66 in the Croatian A1 on Monday night. Begic scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in only 4 minutes. He has averaged so far 3.3ppg and 2.0rpg in three games. Begic has both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian nationalities.

   #7. Marko Keselj (206-SF-88, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Belgium) helped Oostende win their game against the seventh-ranked Spirou Charleroi 81-73 in the Belgian Euromillions League in Tuesday night's game. He scored 10 points. Keselj has averaged so far 3.6ppg and 1.9rpg. He also holds two passports: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbian.

   #8. Ramo Rizvic (200-F-87, currently plays in Slovenia) helped Zlatorog win their game against the fifth-ranked Helios 67-60 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM last Saturday. Rizvic scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 38 minutes. His stats this year are: 12.6ppg, 5.4rpg and 2.3apg in 25 games.

   #9. Simo Atanackovic (206-F-90, currently plays in Slovenia) faced previously mentioned Ramo Rizvic in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM last game. Atanackovic was not able to help Helios (0-2) in their last game. Despite his good performance the fifth-placed Helios lost 60-67 on their home court in Domzale to the higher-ranked (#3) Zlatorog in the Places 1-6 group. Atanackovic was the second best scorer with 10 points. He also added 7 rebounds in 27 minutes. Atanackovic's stats this year are: 11.3ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.2spg in 24 games. He has dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian. Despite Atanackovic's Bosnia and Herzegovina passport, he previously played for the Slovenian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina team.

   #10. Domagoj Bosnjak (201-F/G-95, currently plays in Croatia) helped Cibona win their game against the ninth-ranked KK Zabok 84-78 in the Croatian A1 last Sunday. Bosnjak scored 8 points and added 4 assists. He has averaged so far 5.0ppg, 1.5rpg and 2.6apg.

Club Trujillo (LNB) inked 27-year old American swingman Quinton McDuffie (197-104kg-90, college: Chowan). He played most recently at Gorazde in Bosnia and Herzegovina D2 league. The last season McDuffie played at Parque Sur in Argentinian TFB where in 14 games he averaged 8.0ppg and 3.5rpg. His college team won ODAC Tournament in 2009. McDuffie is a very experienced player. Vogosca celebrate A1 Liga FBIH title beating Gradina 82-80. Vogosca won the Finals 2-0 as earlier they posted a 84-71 win. Dinko Peljto(187-PG-87) stepped up with 23 points, while Fazlic had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Earlier three teams finished with the same 16-4 records on top of Regular Season. Igman finished fourth with 13-7 record and Turbina fifth with 9-11.   [read more]
