2017 TOP 10 YOUNG PROSPECTS IN THE COUNTRY!

I only included players born in the year 2000 and after. Many of the older players born in 1998-99 have gotten plenty of exposure already with the BiH U16 and U18 teams. I also excluded Tarik Biberovic and Amar Mehic who have gotten plenty of attention already internationally and are well known to basketball in Europe fans. I slanted my ranking towards older players as they are more of a known commodity, rather than kids who are 13-14 years old.

1. Dalibor Ilic: Dalibor is an elite player who has already played with the Sr Igokea team this season. He is routinely the best player on the court for his team as well as the best player in multiple international tournaments. He can shoot the ball with range, rebounds well and can make plays passing the ball. At 203cm he has ideal height for his natural position of SF and routinely dominates opponents. He originally agreed to play for the BiH National Team before some people within KSBiH and Serbia stepped in and helped sway him to play for the Serbia National Team a major blow to basketball in BiH.

2. Adi Alikadic: Adi is well known basketball junky, he's played for the NT, for his Native Gorazde in D3 BiH, helping the team get a promotion to the A1 league next season as well as getting loaned out to an A1 team already during the season. If that wasn't enough he played in the U18 league for KOS after the season as well as representing BiH Internationally. He is explosive, can handle the ball, pass and score points in bunches. He may not be a natural PG and lacks SG size but is one of the best prospects in BiH and his hard work and energy is infectious amongst his teammates.

3. Dejan Pavlovic: One of the most interesting young players in BiH is only 14 years old but might be the best player of his age in BiH. He already has good size at 186cm and looks like he will continue to add size in the length due to his tender age. He dominates his opponents physically due to his developed game, he has an explosive offensive game, can score inside the paint and out and can knock down an open jumper out to the three point line. He also is a strong passer and for his age has very few weaknesses, he really needs a challenge and should face better competition if he is to maximize his talents.

4. Harun Husienspahic: Harun is an intriguing prospect at 198cm guard who dominates his opponents with his size and skill. He isn't a great shooter and that, as well as average athleticism is his greatest limitations at this point. If he get stronger and develops physically he could turn out to be a very solid guard in Europe in the next few years. I expect him to play with the U16 team this summer and could be one of the better players on the team. It will be interesting to see him get international exposure. He's another player who could use a better program to maximize his ability.

5. Nikola Micic: Herenda is a better athlete but Micic is more polished, is a better shooter and all around better player. He looks like he will get a chance to play for Spars senior team in the next 2-3 years and should get plenty of opportunities to present himself internationally playing with a top notch program like Spars is, who routinely play in international tournaments.

6. Omar Pajic: Omar is an interesting player and is with one of the best programs in BiH in developing young talent with Zrinjski Mostar. He has good touch in the paint and can score around the rim and uses his 205cm frame to overpower opponents in the paint. Unless his grows and gains strength however, he is likely to struggle to continue to develop due to his limited athleticism and range.

7. Vuk Bojanic: Incredibly young at 13 years old and long at that age at 186cm he looks like one of the best young players in BiH. He is highly skilled and talented and can score inside and outside the paint; he physically dominates opponents and is one of the younger players in the U14 league to regularly get playing time. It's really hard to project 13 year olds as far as developing into professionals but Vuk is one of the most promising young players in BiH today.

8. Nikola Radovanovic: Another incredibly young player at 14 years old who has excellent size at 196cm he was must see in the Bosnian youth leagues. He put up crazy numbers not seen since Dzanan Musa played in Bosnia. That said he is physically more developed than other players his age and he benefits greatly from his size advantage. He can score inside and outside the paint but is inconsistent from the perimeter which isn't unusual for a player who still growing. He has excellent timing and feel for rebounding and has good intangibles that help him win the battles on the court.

9. Deni Radak: One of my favorite players in the Spars system has a very good skill set, he can score, rebound, pass and when he wants to defend. He is very raw and inconsistent at this point and has some questions of focus but skill wise is one of the best players in BiH. He isn't an elite athlete but has very good size 198cm and is only 15 years old and has routinely played in the U18 league against older competition. As other players catch up physically though his lack of athleticism could become more pronounced and limit his upside overall as a pro.

10. Armano Gacic: A very interesting prospect at the point guard position with excellent size at 193cm and room to grow at only 14 years old. He is incredibly raw and plays on a poor team which means he can shoot at will without a thought to situation or timing in a game. He can get others involved and has pretty good handles already but he really needs to play in a better, more structured system. He routinely plays huge minutes for his team and just launches shot after shot in game situations. He looks like he will likely become a SG or SF depending on how he grows as he is not a natural passer. He actually would benefit from playing off the ball but his team cannot afford to take the ball out of his hands as he is supremely talented in comparison to his teammates.
Honorable Mention: F/C Nedim Omerovic, G Ohran Spago, F Mehmed Spago, C Alija Islamovic, F Tomislav Ivisic, G Bekir Coric, G Nino Herenda, C Alen Bejtic, C Sasa Antunovic, C Kenan Kamenjas, PG Tarik Islamovic

We bring you last week's top performances from Bosnians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an international point guard Nemanja Gordic (193-88). He could not help Buducnost (2-1) in their last game. Despite Gordic's very good performance Buducnost lost 94-98 on the road to the second-ranked Igokea.    [read more]
