Dunav 8806 triumphs at NBL Finals! Dunav 8806 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Neftochimic's 32. They outrebounded Neftochimic 42-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kristina Santiago (185-89, college: Cal Poly - SLO, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Radostina Dimitrova (185-85) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Dunav 8806 players scored in double figures. Dunav 8806's coach Georgi Bozhkov felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Ashley Gayle (193-90, college: Texas, agency: LBM Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and Estonian forward Viive Kai Rebane (182-89, college: Binghamton) added 14 points in the effort for Neftochimic.
Dunav 8806 beat Neftochimic 2010, defended the Cup trophy - Feb 26, 2013
Dunav 8806 won the final of the Cup of Bulgaria tournament against Neftochimic 2010 by 87-69, claiming the trophy for the fourth straight year. The teams faced each other in a third consecutive final and they are both among the medalists for sixth straight year.
The players of coach Georgi Bozhkov took the advantage in the first quarter and never looked back. At one point their lead was close to 20 points.
Amanda Johnson was named MVP of the tournament. She scored 25 points including 6 treys in the final game (all of them in an amazing first half 6-for-7 effort) and grabbed 7 rebounds. Kristina Santiago added 20 points and 8 rebounds for the win. For Neftochimic 2010 Ashley Gale registered 17 points and 9 rebounds. Aneta Miteva netted 12.
