Bulgarian Women National Team head coach Jose Maria Buceta was satisfied with his players after the three friendly matches with Great Britain. The Bulgarians won two and lost one on home ground in Pravets. Those were the first games of the training camp before the European qualifiers in August.
The matches were very helpful. Bear in mind that the girls were very tired. In the first three weeks of the camp we worked mainly on the physical condition. I am satisfied, stated the Spanish coach. We tried couple of defensive plays and I am really happy to see were improving in this aspect. Great Britain has young but quite tall players, preparing for the Olympics in 2012. I wanted to see all my players. We were lacking something in offense, and we are going to work more on that from now on. In the last of the three games, Doneeka Hodges (175-G-82, college: LSU) was neutralized in offense. We will work, so it wont repeat against our next opponents. Doneeka is a great person, a good girl, and fits very well in the team. I like her strong defense.
Due to family issues, Jaklin Zlatanova (190-F-88) missed the last match with Great Britain. Ekaterina Dimitrova (182-G-87) was a little bit sick, but still played for 17 minutes in the same friendly game.
Bulgarian Women National Team will get three-day rest, until July 1st, when it starts the next phase of preparations again in Pravets. The next friendly games are in Lithuania.

But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. DR Congolese forward Omari Gudul (206-94, college: Angelo St., agency: Two Points) contributed...   [read more]
