Romania closed 2013 EuroBasket qualifications with victory. They celebrated 75-68 OT win against Bulgaria today for 3-5 record in Group D (5th place). At the other side, Bulgaria ended as the last ranked team in this pool with 1-7. Both teams failed to reach the final tournament in France. Romania made 13-6 in extra five minutes to take the victory today. Quarters: 23-15, 8-13, 19-18, 12-16, 13-6. Gabriela Marginean (182-F-87, college: Drexel) was a key player for the winners with 26 points. Elisabeth Pavel (192-C-90) had double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Ancuta Stoenescu (169-G-80, agency: Data Plus Group) collected 8 pts, 6 rebs and 5 assists. In Bulgaria, Radoslava Bachvarova (183-F-87, agency: LBM Management, college: VCU) was better than the others with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Vera Perostiyska (196-C-82, college: FIU) (10 rebs) and Daniela Georgieva (184-G/F-86) (5 rebs) posted 15 and 13 pts respectively.

After the three losses from France, Italy hoped to add the victory to their preparation campaign. They lost the first period 16-7, but won the second 12-4 and took 28:21 halftime advantage. Bulgaria however tied the game at the end of the third period when Ekaterina Dimitrova (182-G-87) made two free throws at 39:39. Dimana Georgieva (190-C-88) gave Bulgari 47:43 lead with 4 minutes to go, but Bulgaria remained scoreless in the rest of the game. Sabrina Cinili (190-F-89) brought the victory for Bulgaria in the last seconds after an assists from Giorgia Sottana (178-G-88, agency: Players Group). Sabrina Cinili and Giorgia Sottana top-scored for the winners with 11 points each. Chiara Consolini (186-F-88) netted 9, while Benedetta Bagnara (178-G-87, agency: LBM Management) added 7. Daniela Peteva (179-F-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) ended up with 12 points in the losing effort, while Ekaterina Dimitrova scored 11. Evelina Guneva (183-F-80, agency: Interperformances) produced 7 and Milena Tomova (189-F/C-82, college: FIU) notched 6.

Varna will host U16 European Championship Women Division A. The Bulgarian city will invite the teams to the tournament from 1-11 August 2013.
Sixteen teams were divided into 4 groups of four teams:
Group A: Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia
Group B: Russia, Sweden, Latvia, Turkey
Group C: Belgium, Netherlands, Lithuania, Italy
Group D: France, Hungary, Slovak Republic, Czech Republic

Last year Spain won the Gold at U16 EuroBasket in Miskolc. They blasted Italy 70-49 in the Big Final to take the first place at that event. Spain took control on its rival from the very beginning and never looked back. Italiy's Cecilia Zandalasini (181-SF-96) is named MVP of this event. Russia outplayed Belgium 53-41 to win the Bronze at U16 EuroBasket in Miskolc. Belgium stays without the medal ending as No.4. Lithuania won U16 EuroBasket Division B in Tallinn. They handed 86-73 loss to Bulgaria in the Final. Both teams won the promotion for Division A. Laura Juskaite (187-PF-97) led Lithuania to victory with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Dalia Belickaite (175-F-96) is named MVP of the tournament.
Dunav keep Tsvetomira Sharenkapova (183-PF-91) for another season. The young Bulgarian player will enter her 4th season with the team.
In 2010-2011 she appeared for Dunav Ruse (NBL, starting five) and in 24 games averaged 2.6ppg, 1.9rpg.
In 2011-2012 she improved her stats to 3.1ppg, 2.0rpg. Last season Tsvetomira Sharenkapova had 6.2ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.7apg, FGP: 50.7%, 3PT: 34.5%, FT: 72.7%. In EuroCup after 4 games she showed 3 [read more]

At the European Championships U20 Division B in Ohrid (FYR Macedonia) -11 she showed 12.0ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.0apg, 1.3spg, FGP: 39.6%, 3PT: 45.5%, FT-2 (93.1%). Tsvetomira Sharenkapova became Bulgarian Cup Winner -12, 13, Bulgarian League Regular Season Champion -12, Bulgarian League Champion -12, 13 and Bulgarian League Regular Season Runner-Up -13.
