Bulgaria edged Slovak Republic at the U16 European Championship in Division B. The Bulgarian side won their first game in the tournament 68:65 for 1-1 record. Slovak Republic meanwhile fell at 1-2 record.
Bulgaria started with 17:15, but the lead did not last for a long time. Norbert Janicek (206-C-96) tied the game at 21:21, while Sarna brought 28:23 for Slovakia. Jakub Meress (200-PF-96) and Robert Rozanek (180-PG-96) sent the teams to the lockers at 38:30. Jakub Meress gave Slovak Republic double digit lead, however his team could not win the game. Vangelov and Kraev reduced to 52:48 at the end of the third quarter. Bulgaria added massive 20-13 burst to win the game.
Denis Petkov (171-PG-96) top-scored for the winners with 21 points and Rumen Vasilev (200-C-96) nailed 19. Jakub Meress answered with 21 points in the losing effort and Robert Rozanek had 15. Jozef Senohradsky (190-G-96) posted 12 points, while Norbert Janicek chipped in with 11.

Levski Sofia is now ahead 2-1 in the semifinal series of the championship against Balkan Botevgrad. In Game 3 The Greens from Botevgrad won at home 86-78 and kept alive their chances of reaching the finals. Game 4 is on Wednesday in Botevgrad.
