Marinovic
Marko Marinovic (183-PG-83) arrived in Sofia and joined his new teammates in Levski on Tuesday. Serbian point guard is expected to be the only foreign addition to the roster this season, making huge difference from the last ones. Surely, it will be interesting to be seen how Levski will handle itself without the leading topscorer for the last three years Aaron Harper, who left for Lebanese team.
That role will now go on Chavdar Kostov (195-SG-88, agency: Interperformances), who proved himself as leading scorer for Bulgarian NT in the just done European qualifiers. Kostov can most definitely do the job, transforming this power into his club team. Last year he developed also his defense game in Greece, so he is a huge addition for Levski this summer.
Nikolay Varbanov (210-C-85, agency: Interperformances) will also need to prove himself as the starting Bulgarian on the center position in NT, which will be tough head to head with veteran Stefan Georgiev. Both can more help each other though, than compete.
Marko Marinovic came in as a bit of a surprise, with Levski management juggling some American names for that PG place, but choosing the experienced Serbian at the end. Marinovic is a well-known name, and could be the guard Levski has been searching for the last 3 seasons.
Levski also brought in one of the most promising U20 Bulgarians Dimitar Dimitrov (202-F-93, agency: Interperformances) a product of Italian Rimini. Dimitrov is the future of Bulgarian NT, and has a good chance to earn a starting spot in Levski team before the U20 Divison A championship next summer.
The core of Levski remains the same Stefan Georgiev, his brother Zlatin Georgiev, Pavel Ivanov, Dimitar Anguelov, Hrisimir Dimitrov, Denis Agre and youngsters Ventsislav Petkov, Aleks Simeonov, Georgi Kunov.

NBL Round 2 of Quarter-Finals. Lukoil advance into semifinal stage - 19 hours ago
Balkan - Rilski 100-75 Balkan fired past Rilski to force the decisive third game in the series. Balkan shot 61.5 percent from the field. They also forced 19 Rilski turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international guard Stanimir Marinov (192-91, agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Travis Daniels (202-92, college: Mississippi St.) chipped...   [read more]

Beroe - Spartak Pleven 81-69 Beroe held off Spartak Pleven in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Beroe. Spartak Pleven was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. DR Congolese forward Omari Gudul (206-94, college: Angelo St., agency: Two Points) contributed...   [read more]

Shahrdary Arak (Superleague) inked experienced 37-year old Bulgarian small forward Filip Videnov (196-97kg-80, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Alti Sport). He started the season at Lukoil Academic Sofia in Bulgarian NBL league. Videnov managed to play in three leagues this year (!!!). In 15 NBL games he recorded 8.9ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.0apg. Videnov helped them to win the Supercup. He also played 12 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he averaged 9.2ppg, 3.4rpg and 2.4apg. And finally Videnov contri...   [read more]
