27-year old center Nikolay Varbanov (210-C-85, agency: Interperformances) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Levski Sofia and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4.
He had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed Spartak Pleven (#9, 1-3) with 46-point margin 98-52. Levski Sofia is placed at 2nd position in Bulgarian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Levski Sofia will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Varbanov as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Varbanov has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 6.8rpg) and averages solid 1.3bpg and 68.2% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Branko Mirkovic (190-G-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) of Rilski Sportist. He is Serbian guard in his 2nd season at Rilski Sportist. In the last game Mirkovic recorded impressive 18 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he lead Rilski Sportist to another comfortable win 87-74 over U20 (#10, 0-4) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Rilski Sportist to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 2-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Mirkovic is well-known at Rilski Sportist and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Aleks Simeonov (200-F-93) of U20 (#10). Simeonov scored 20 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). Despite Simeonov's great performance U20 lost 74-87 to the higher-ranked Rilski Sportist (#5, 2-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. U20 can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 4 games. Too bad for Simeonov he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Simeonov has individually a great season in Bulgaria. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.3rpg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. James Tyler (218-C-88) of Chernomorets - 15 points and 13 rebounds
5. Tencho Tenchev (202-F-93) of U20 - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Martin Durchev (204-SF-87) of Tundja Yambol - 25 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Ivan Lilov (196-SG-88) of Balkan - 25 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Brandon Heath (193-G-84) of Lukoil Academik - 18 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Dimitar Anguelov (203-SF-79) of Levski Sofia - 13 points and 9 rebounds
10. Mohammed Abukar (208-F-85) of Lukoil Academik - 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Academik Plovdiv will face Balkan in Botevgrad in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rilski will play at home against Spartak Pleven (#9) and hope to win that game.
