The biggest surprise of round 6 in NBL was guest Rilski Sportist's (4-2) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Euroins Cherno More (3-3) 86-73 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Rilski Sportist. Euroins Cherno More managed to win second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was international Hristo Zahariev (197-90) who scored 24 points and 4 assists. Serbian guard Branko Mirkovic (190-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) chipped in 15 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Asen Velikov (185-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Euroins Cherno More's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rilski Sportist have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Levski Sofia and Tundja Yambol. Euroins Cherno More at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Chernomorets. Rilski Sportist is looking forward to face Tundja Yambol (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Euroins Cherno More will play against Levski Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals. An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Burgas. Top-ranked Lukoil Academik faced 4th ranked Chernomorets. Guests from Sofia (6-0) smashed host Chernomorets (3-3) 121-61. Undefeated Lukoil Academik have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 6-0 record. Chernomorets at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Cherno More. Lukoil Academik will play against Beroe (#8) in Stara Zagora in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chernomorets will play on the road against Spartak Pleven and hopes to get back on the winning track. Bottom-ranked U20 (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-51 loss to fifth ranked Levski Sofia (4-2) in Sofia on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Ventsislav Petkov scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Tencho Tenchev with 14 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Levski Sofia moved-up to second place, which they share with Tundja Yambol and Rilski Sportist. Newly promoted U20 still closes the standings with six games lost. Levski Sofia will meet at home Euroins Cherno More (#5) in the next round. U20 will play against Balkan (#7) in Botevgrad and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Brazilian center Atila Santos (208-83, college: Minnesota St., agency: Warren Sports International) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international Ivan Lilov (196-88) chipped in 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Levski Sofia dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to U20's 16. Levski Sofia forced 23 U20 turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 68.2 percentage. Levski Sofia looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Tundja Yambol (4-2) smashed at home 9th ranked Spartak Pleven (1-5) 92-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Tundja Yambol. Spartak Pleven managed to win third quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
