The most shocking disappointment of round 8 was a home defeat of 5th ranked Haskovo 2012 (2-5) by sixth ranked Levski (3-4) who outscored them by 20 points 20-0. Levski moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Montana 2003. Haskovo 2012 lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Levski is looking forward to face higher ranked Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Haskovo 2012 will have a break next round.
Very significant was Neftochimic's (#1, 7-0) victory against 3rd ranked Beroe (4-3) 82-70. The winners were led by American power forward Ashley Gayle (193-90, college: Texas, agency: LBM Management) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and Olga Dubrovina supported her with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Even 22 points by the former international forward Radostina Dimitrova (185-85) did not help to save the game for Beroe. Undefeated Neftochimic (7-0) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Beroe at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Neftochimic will play against bottom-ranked Rilski Sportist (#7) in Samokov in the next round where they are favorite. Beroe will play on the road against Levski (#4) in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Rilski Sportist (0-7) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to fifth ranked Montana 2003 (3-4) 73-48 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was Radostina Slavova-Naneva who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. Anne Farrell produced 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Montana 2003 moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Levski. Loser Rilski Sportist still closes the standings with seven games lost. Montana 2003 will meet at home league's second-placed Dunav 8806 in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Rilski Sportist will play against the league's leader Neftochimic (#1) in Burgas and hopes to get finally their first victory.
