Former international power forward Radostina Slavova-Naneva (188-F/C-86) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Montana 2003, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8. The 26-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds, while her team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Rilski Sportist (#7, 0-7) with 25-point margin 73-48. Montana 2003 maintains the 5th position in Bulgarian NBL. Montana 2003 is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-4 record. Slavova-Naneva turned to be Montana 2003's top player in her first season with the team. Radostina Slavova-Naneva averages this season 15.7ppg and 12.9rpg.
The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old Ukrainian Olga Dubrovina (170-G-87, agency: LBM Management) of league's leader Neftochimic. Dubrovina had a very good evening with a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists. Of course Neftochimic cruised to a 82-70 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Beroe (#3, 4-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Neftochimic consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. She plays for the best team in the league and Neftochimic managed to win all 7 games keeping perfect record. Dubrovina is well-known at Neftochimic and is a proven leader in her second season with the team.
Third on the list of top players last round was another Neftochimic's star - American forward Ashley Gayle (193-F/C-90, agency: LBM Management). Gayle scored 20 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of Neftochimic, helping her team with a 82-70 win against #3 ranked Beroe. Neftochimic have amazing season winning all 7 games without a single defeat. Gayle turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Gayle has a great season in Bulgaria. After only 7 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.3ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 13.3rpg (2nd best). She also has 2.1bpg and FGP: 53.9%.

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. Italy posted the second straight win in Frosinone. The hosts edged Bulgaria on Saturday 61:50 for the second time in two days.

Italy posted the second straight win in Frosinone. The hosts edged Bulgaria on Saturday 61:50 for the second time in two days. Bulgaria lost the first game only by one point and started the second game with a 17-10 surge. Italy however needed another 10 minutes to catch up with the guests and after 14-6 burst took 24:23 halftime advantage. Italy looked better in the second half and posted two victories. They won the third quarter 20-15 and finished the game with a 17-12 rally. Ilaria Zanoni (180-G-86, agency: Players Group) and Benedetta Bagnara (178-G-87, agency: LBM Management) top-scored for the winners with 11 points each. Chiara Consolini (186-F-88) notched 10, while Fassini added 7 and Gaia Gorini (182-G-92) had 5. Ekaterina Dimitrova (182-G-87) answered with 11 points in the losing effort. Daniela Peteva (179-F-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) and Milena Tomova (189-F/C-82, college: FIU) followed her with 10 apiece, whilst Ivanova brought 9.

Bulgaria however tied the game at the end of the third period when Ekaterina Dimitrova (182-G-87) made two free throws at 39:39. Dimana Georgieva (190-C-88) gave Bulgari 47:43 lead with 4 minutes to go, but Bulgaria remained scoreless in the rest of the game. Sabrina Cinili (190-F-89) brought the victory for Bulgaria in the last seconds after an assists from Giorgia Sottana (178-G-88, agency: Players Group). Sabrina Cinili and Giorgia Sottana top-scored for the winners with 11 points each. Chiara Consolini (186-F-88) netted 9, while Benedetta Bagnara (178-G-87, agency: LBM Management) added 7. Daniela Peteva (179-F-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) ended up with 12 points in the losing effort, while Ekaterina Dimitrova scored 11. Varna will host U16 European Championship Women Division A. The Bulgarian city will invite the teams to the tournament from 1-11 August 2013.
Sixteen teams were divided into 4 groups of four teams:
Group A: Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia
Group B: Russia, Sweden, Latvia, Turkey
Group C: Belgium, Netherlands, Lithuania, Italy
Group D: France, Hungary, Slovak Republic, Czech Republic

Last year Spain won the Gold at U16 EuroBasket in Miskolc. They blasted Italy 70-49 in the Big Final to take the first place at that event. Spain took control on its rival from the very beginning and never looked back. Italiy's Cecilia Zandalasini (181-SF-96) is named MVP of this event. Russia outplayed Belgium 53-41 to win the Bronze at U16 EuroBasket in Miskolc. Belgium stays without the medal ending as No.4. Lithuania won U16 EuroBasket Division B in Tallinn. They handed 86-73 loss to Bulgaria in the Final. Both teams won the promotion for Division A. Laura Juskaite (187-PF-97) led Lithuania to victory with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Dalia Belickaite (175-F-96) is named MVP of the tournament.
