Here is the weekly review of the top performing Bulgarian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in VTB United League). Rowland led his Latvian team VEF Riga to a victory over the sixth-ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (4-4) 86-82 in the VTB United League in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Rowland scored 17 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 5 assists. VEF Riga (6-2) is placed third in group B. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Rowland's first season with the team. Rowland is ranked first on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best rebounders (seventh place). He has individually a very good season with high stats. Rowland averages: 18.0ppg, 6.8rpg, 6.1apg, 2.0spg, 2FGP: 61.0%(47-77) and FT: 78.8%. He is a naturalized American. Rowland played for the Bulgarian senior national team one years ago. Strangely he has never played in Bulgaria.

   #2. Second place goes to former international point guard Ibrahim Jaaber (187-84, college: Pennsylvania, currently plays in Euroleague). Jaaber managed to help B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas in a 2-point victoryagainst the fifth-ranked Armani Milano (3-6) 67-65 in the Euroleague last Friday. He scored 5 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals in 29 minutes. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (7-2) is placed first in group C. Jaaber's team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Jaaber is currently second on the league's list of most steals with 2.0spg. This year he also averages: 7.1ppg, 2.3rpg, 2.6apg, 3FGP: 42.9% and FT: 72.7% in the eight games he played so far. Jaaber is a naturalized American. He played for the Bulgarian national team in 2009. Apparently Jaaber has never played in Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in VTB United League), who plays in Lithuania. He could not help Lietuvos rytas (4-4) to beat Khimky (7-1). Ivanov recorded 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The fifth-placed Lietuvos rytas was defeated 80-69 on the road by the leading Khimky in the group A of VTB United League. Ivanov's overall stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 2FGP: 69.6%(16-23) and FT: 70.4%. He played for the Bulgarian national team one years ago.

Guard Earl Calloway (191-83, college: Indiana, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to an Unicaja Malaga's victory against the fourth-ranked ALBA Berlin (4-5) 74-63 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. Calloway scored 7 points in 18 minutes. Unicaja Malaga (7-2) is placed second in group B. His team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Calloway has relatively good stats this year: 10.9ppg, 2.2rpg, 2.2apg and 1.1spg in the nine games. He is a naturalized American. Calloway used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2010. Interesting that he has never played in Bulgaria.

International power forward Cedric Simmons (206-86, college: N.Carolina St., currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Enel Brindisi's victory against the closely-ranked Juvecaserta (5-6) 82-74 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. Simmons recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Enel Brindisi (6-5) is placed seventh in the SerieA. Simmons belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #3. His overall stats this season are: 7.2ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.4bpg. Simmons is a naturalized American. He plays currently for the Bulgarian national team. However Simmons has never played in Bulgaria.

Power forward Hristo Nikolov (200-85, currently plays in Romania) was the main contributor in U-Mobitelco's victory against the closely-ranked Rovinari (7-5) 80-73 in the Romanian Division A on Monday night. He was the best player in that game. Nikolov scored 19 points, had 9 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 33 minutes. CS U-Mobitelco Cluj Napoca (8-4) is placed sixth in the Division A. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Nikolov is currently ninth on the list of top scorers with 16.0ppg. This year his other stats are: 4.5rpg, 2.6apg and 1.6spg in the 11 games. Nikolov is an international player who is currently on the senior Bulgarian National Team roster.

International small forward Filip Videnov (196-80, agency: Alti Sport, college: W.Kentucky, currently plays in VTB United League) faced previously mentioned Earl Rowland in the VTB United League last game. Videnov, who plays in Russia was not able to help BC Nizhny Novgorod (4-4) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance BC Nizhny Novgorod (#6) was defeated 86-82 in Riga by the higher-ranked VEF Riga (#3) in the group B of VTB United League. Videnov scored 12 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Videnov's overall stats this season are: 5.9ppg, 2.4rpg and 1.4apg. He is also Bulgarian national team player.

Guard Andre Owens (193-80, college: Houston, currently plays in EuroChallenge) was not able to secure a victory for Keravnos (2-3) in their game against Joensuun Kataja (3-2) in the EuroChallenge, despite his very good performance last Tuesday. Owens was the second best scorer with 13 points in 31 minutes. But Keravnos (#3) lost 66-71 on the opponent's court to the second-ranked Joensuun_Kataja in the group B of EuroChallenge. His team will play only one more game in the EuroChallenge Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. This year Owens' overall stats are: 9.5ppg and 3.5rpg in the two games. He is a naturalized American. Owens used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2009. He played also for Lukoil Academik Sofia in Bulgarian league.

Former international center Jared Homan (206-83, college: Iowa St., currently plays in Germany) helped Bayern Muenchen win their game against the closely-ranked Telekom Baskets (5-6) 104-91 in the German BBL on Sunday night. Homan scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. FC Bayern Muenchen (6-6) is placed seventh in the BBL. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Homan's total stats this season are: 9.6ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.4apg and 1.2bpg. He is a naturalized American. Homan used to play for the Bulgarian national team two years ago.

Guard Aleksandar Gruev (187-83, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in Romania) helped CSU Sibiu win their game against the closely-ranked Timba Timosoara (4-8) 93-77 in the Romanian Division A in Wednesday night's game. Gruev scored 13 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 9 assists in 37 minutes. CSU Atlassib Sibiu (6-6) is placed tenth in the Division A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. This year Gruev has relatively solid stats: 13.0ppg, 2.8rpg and 4.8apg in the 10 games. He is international player as one years ago he still played for the Bulgarian senior national team.

   #11. International shooting guard Pavlin Ivanov (194-93, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Eurocup) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Buducnost in their game against Gescrap BB in the Eurocup. He scored 5 points in 8 minutes. It was his first game for Buducnost this season. His team was edged 68-66. Ivanov plays currently for the Bulgarian national team.

   #12. Former international center Krum Doychinov (206-86, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Greece) couldn't help OFI in their game against Irakleio in the Greek A2 (second division). Despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game He recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 11 rebounds. Doychinov also added 3 blocks. Doychinov is currently fifth on the list of best rebounders and also on the list of best blockers (second place). He has very reliable stats this season: 10.3ppg, 8.2rpg, 1.3apg and 1.2bpg. Doychinov used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2010.

   #13. International forward Aleksandar Georgiev (203-90, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Assignia Manresa in their game against CAI Zaragoza in the Spanish ACB. Georgiev cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. His team was defeated 82-75. Georgiev's total stats this season are: 4.8ppg and 2.3rpg. He is also Bulgarian national team player.

   #14. U20 international guard Georgi Sirakov (186-92, another player represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Mazzeo San Severo in their game against Mirandola in the Italian Nazionale A (third division). Sirakov scored only 4 points. His team was defeated 100-88. This season he averages just 7.9ppg. Sirakov used to play for the Bulgarian U20 national team last year.

   #15. Former international forward Hristo Petkov (202-85, college: Campbellsville, currently plays in Denmark) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Aarhus BC in their game against Vaerlose in the Danish Ligaen. He cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. Petkov scored only 2 points in 15 minutes. His team lost in a double overtime 97-104. He has reliable stats this year: 12.5ppg and 6.9rpg in the 14 games. Petkov used to play for the Bulgarian national team eleven years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Bulgarian passport but never been selected to any of Bulgarian national teams:

   #1. Willie Deane (188-PG-80, agency: Higher Vision Sports, college: Purdue, currently plays in Ukraine), who plays in the Ukrainian Superleague could not help Khimik (11-5) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Khimik lost 91-105 on the road to the leading Ferro-ZNTU. Deane was the top scorer with 27 points. He also added 6 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 35 minutes. It's Deane's first season with the team. Deane has relatively good stats this year: 11.4ppg, 3.8rpg, 6.8apg and 1.1spg in the 14 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Deane used to play for PBC Lukoil Akademik Sophia in Bulgarian league.

   #2. Ilian Evtimov (201-F-83, agency: Interperformances, college: N.Carolina St., currently plays in France), who plays in the French ProA was not able to help Chalon/Saor (7-3) in their last game on Monday. Despite his very good performance the league leader Chalon/Saor was defeated 65-56 in Roanne by the league outsider Chorale de (#16). Evtimov was the top scorer with 20 points. He also added 5 rebounds. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Evtimov has relatively good stats this year: 13.1ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.8apg. He has a dual citizenship: Bulgarian and French.

   #3. Pero Antic (210-F-82, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Greece) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Aris (3-6) crushing them 100-65 in the Greek A1 on Monday night. Antic scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 18 minutes. Olympiacos S.F.P. Pireus (9-0) is placed first in the A1. So far his team won all nine games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Antic averages: 5.5ppg, 2.4rpg and 1.4apg in the eight games. He is another player who holds two passports: FYR Macedonian and Bulgarian.

   #4. Dimitar Karadzovski (190-G-84, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in FYR Macedonia) was the major contributor in Kozuv's victory against the closely-ranked Feni Indistrija (5-2) 79-73 in the FYR Macedonian Prva Liga last Saturday. Karadzovski recorded 13 points and added 3 assists (made all of his six free throws). It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Kozuv Gevgelija (5-2) is placed second in the Prva Liga. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Karadzovski is currently second on the list of best passers. He has very reliable stats this season: 11.7ppg, 3.3rpg and 4.0apg. Karadzovski has both Bulgarian and FYR Macedonian nationalities.

   #5. Kristoffer Gafor (194-G-92, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) was not able to secure a victory for Malbas (8-3) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Malbas (#2) lost 76-82 in Boras to the lower-ranked (#3) Boras II in the South group. Gafor scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. It was Malbas' first loss after six consecutive victories. Gafor is ranked third on the list of the top scorers in the league with 22.3ppg. This year he also averages: 7.9rpg, 1.8apg and 2.5spg in the 11 games. Gafor also holds two passports: Swedish and Bulgarian.

   #6. Dinko Marshavelski (211-F/C-89, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Northeastern in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the Northeastern was edged 66-64 at home by the La Salle University. Marshavelski scored 10 points. His total stats this season are:, 7.9rpg, 1.8apg and 2.5spg.

   #7. Galin Mihaylov (189-G-80, currently plays in Norway) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Ammerud Bskt crushing them 96-64 in the Norwegian BLNO in Sunday night's game. Mihaylov scored 9 points and added 6 assists in 20 minutes. This year his total stats are: 8.5ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.4apg in the 12 games.

   #8. Kee Kee Clark (180-PG-84, college: St.Peter's, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Umana Reyer Venezia in a victory against the sixth-ranked SAIE3 BO 65-51 in the Italian SerieA on Sunday night. Clark scored only 2 points in 9 minutes on the court. He has reliable stats this year: 14.7ppg, 1.8rpg, 1.6apg and 1.1spg in the nine games. Clark is a naturalized American.

An interesting game for Lukoil Acad. (7-1) which played road game in Samokov against 4th ranked Rilski (4-3). First ranked Lukoil Acad. managed to get a 4-point victory 94-90. Lukoil Acad. made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Division A Round 9: Akademik Sofia beats Levski 2014-2 in a derby game - 3 days ago

The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games. The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sofia: Akademik Sofia (#4) and Levski 2014-2 (#2). Levski 2014-2 was defeated at home 64-70 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half.
