Union Saint-Amand Porte du Hainaut (LFB) waived 30-year old Bulgarian international center Vera Perostiyska (195-82, college: FIU). In 12 LFB games she played this season she recorded 8.2ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3bpg (#6 in the league). Perostiyska also played 8 games in Eurocup where she averaged 11.8ppg, 7.8rpg and 1.5apg.
The most of last season she spent at Athinaikos in Greek A1. In 16 games last year she averaged 9.6ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1bpg. She helped them to win the league title and the cup. A very good season in her career as she was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Greek League Honorable Mention and All-Bosmans Team. Perostiyska also played at Beroe in Bulgarian NBL that season. In 8 games she averaged impressive 22.9ppg, 12.9rpg, 2.5apg and 1.3bpg.
The previous (10-11) season she played at Energa Torun in Polish PLKK. In 27 games that year she averaged 9.3ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.4apg and 1.3bpg. She contributed to her team making it to the cup final. Perostiyska also played 7 games in Eurocup where she averaged 7.3ppg and 4.3rpg.
Among other achievements she received Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Player of the Year award and Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2009 and 2010. Perostiyska also represented Bulgaria at the Qualifications to European Championships 2013 this year. Her stats at that event were 8 games: 12.4ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.1apg, FGP: 50.6%, FT: 73.9%.
Perostiyska has played also professionally in Slovakia (Dannax Sport), Turkey (Ceyhan Bld, Cankaya and Samsun) and Bulgaria (Neftochimic and Montana 2003).
She attended Florida International University until 2001 and it is her twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.

31-year old American guard Charel Allen (181-86, college: Notre Dame) left Montana 2003 (NBL). Allen played there also last season. In 20 games she averaged 13.0ppg, 6.4rpg, 5.3apg and 1.7spg. She helped them to make it to both league and Cup finals after they ended regular season as second best team. Stefan Mihaylov is the new head coach of Bulgaria Women NT - 27 days ago
Montana 2003 head coach Stefan Mihaylov was appointed and will be in charge of Bulgaria Women NT for the next 2 years. Mihaylov received an unanimous vote after the competition went short. Stefan Mihaylov was assistant coach for Georgi Bozhkov in the previous qualifications cycle. He is yet to announce his coaching staff. Bulgarian Basketball Federation has prepared summer camp for the Women NT which includes friendly games with Macedonia.   [read more]
