OKK Beograd secured a narrow home win over Rilski Sportist to take 2-5 record in Balkan League Group B. Aleksej Nesovic (189-PG-85, agency: Beo Basket) and Ivan Marinkovic (208-F/C-93) finished with 16 points each to pace the winners. Rilski slipped at 4-3 record after the defeat.
OKK Beograd dominated in the opening quarter. The hosts built a 25:17 lead after ten minutes of action. Rilski Sportist stopped the rot in the second frame. The Bulgarian team increased the tempo and narrowed the deficit at 5-point mark 40:45. But OKK Beograd were back in control in the third frame. The home team held their opponents at 15 points and raced to a 9-point distance. Rilski refused to give up that early. Tony Gugino (207-C-86, college: Hillsdale) and Smith helped the visitors to a 79:77 advantage late in the game. But Sutulovic drained a triple, Knezevic followed with a jumper and Aleksej Nesovic sank a free throw to seal the victory for the hosts. Milos Pavlovic (210-F/C-84, agency: BeoExcell) accounted for 15 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Branko Mirkovic (190-G-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) answered with 24 points and 12 assists for Rilski Sportist. Tony Gugino provided 23 points and 14 boards in the loss.
