Martin
Durchev
International Martin Durchev (204-SF-87) had an amazing evening in the last round for Tundja Yambol, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 11.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (39 points, four rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Chernomorets (#9, 3-7) 84-76. Tundja Yambol is placed at 4th position in Bulgarian NBL. Tundja Yambol is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-5 record. In the team's last game Durchev had a remarkable 64.7% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He has many years of experience at Tundja Yambol, through which he has constantly improved. Martin Durchev has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 18.7ppg).

The second best player in last round's games was -year old American Will Walker (183-G) of Beroe. Walker had a very good evening with a triple-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Of course he lead Beroe to another comfortable win 94-80 over slightly higher-ranked Cherno More (#6, 5-5) being unquestionably team leader. Beroe's 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-6 record. Walker is a newcomer at Beroe, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Beroe's star - former international forward Atanas Radev (200-F-81). Radev showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, five rebounds and six assists in the last round. He was another key player of Beroe, helping his team with a 94-80 easy win against slightly higher-ranked Cherno More (#6, 5-5). The chances of Beroe ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 6 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Radev could help Beroe to bring them higher in the standings. Radev has a very solid season. In 9 games in Bulgaria he scored 11.2ppg. He also has 5.4rpg and FGP: 55.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Devin Green (201-G/F-82) of Lukoil Academik - 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Ilia Stankov (198-F-76) of Spartak Pleven - 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Julian Radionov (187-PG-79) of Tundja Yambol - 11 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists
7. Darryl Watkins (211-C-84) of Lukoil Academik - 14 points and 8 rebounds
8. James Tyler (218-C-88) of Chernomorets - 15 points and 15 rebounds
9. Brian Ormon (201-F-84) of Tundja Yambol - 13 points and 5 rebounds
10. Denis Agre (203-C-88) of Spartak Pleven - 15 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. DR Congolese forward Omari Gudul (206-94, college: Angelo St., agency: Two Points) contributed...   [read more]
