Mens team of Levski played an excellent game and won over direct rival for the title Lukoil Academic that brought them even at the table of the standings in the National League. Levski was better by the score 85-78 in the second match between those two teams for season 2012/13. The win for them confirmed their ambitions to stop the series of "Students" and chase the title of the country later in May. After today's game both teams are now tied with total of 10 wins and 2 losses. There is six more rounds until the end of the second turn and Levski needs to have one more victory over his rival to host the third match between two teams in the next round. Otherwise Lukoil will host Levski in Pravets, because in the matches between each other they have a better ratio. However with the victory today Levski players have to believe that they have enough ability to play equally, and at the times to even overplayed their opponents from Lukoil Academic.

Levski started the game better and took the early lead by six points. Lukoil Academic replied as shortly before the end of the first part even were up, but Levski regained a 20-18 lead after 10 minutes of play. Lukoil Academic had a series of 13-3, which brought them 8 points ahead - 33-25 in the middle of the second quarter. However Levski ended the time before the break very strong and had a single point advantage - 39-38.

With the start of the second half, Levski managed a series of seven consecutive points and led by 50-43. This difference was reduced several times, but then two three pointer shots by Marko Marinovic again pulled team ahead. Levski was the better team in those minutes and after the third quarter the result was 65-59.

Guests from Pravets had better luck at the start of the fourth quarter and got back in the game. With five minutes to go Dimitar Angelov scored two successful free throws to even the game at 72 apiece. In the final minutes Levski showed more desire and commitment to succeed, and this fact led to several important baskets for them, as they were succesful from the free throw line in crucial moments to grab important victory. Defensively they shut down the players of Lukoil and were able to close out the match in their favor 85-78 to reach the seventh consecutive victory in NBL championship.

Most effective for Levski were Marko Marinovic and Chavdar Kostov (195-SG-88, agency: Interperformances), who managed 20 points each. Another double-double for center Nikolay Varbanov - 12 points and 12 rebounds. For Lukoil top scorer with 19 points was Pavel Marinov.

In the next round Levski will visit Spartak in Pleven, but before that will travel to Israel for a very important meeting of the Balkan League versus Galil Gilboa on January 15. Lukoil Academic is out of Europe and has no midweek game as they will ost Cherno More Varna on January 19 in Pravets.

Division A Round 14: Cherno More 2 defeats Dolphin in the game between Top 4 teams - 7 days ago
An interesting game for Cherno More 2 (8-4) which played road game in Dolphin against one of their biggest challengers Dolphin (6-6). Third ranked Cherno More 2 had an easy win 121-97.
