NBL Round 17: Dunav 8806 loses to Neftochimic in the game between Top 4 teams - Jan 19, 2013

Very significant was Neftochimic's (#1, 15-0) victory against second-ranked Dunav 8806 (11-3) 91-76. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Dunav 8806. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-76. Neftochimic made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Neftochimic especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Ukrainian guard Olga Dubrovina (170-87, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American guard Tahnee Robinson (175-88, college: Nevada, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Kristina Santiago (185-89, college: Cal Poly - SLO, agency: LBM Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds. Undefeated Neftochimic (15-0) have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 15 victories in a row. Defending champion Dunav 8806 keeps the second position with three games lost. Neftochimic are looking forward to face Montana 2003 (#4) on the road in the next round. Dunav 8806 will play against Levski in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Third ranked Levski (8-7) crushed at home 7th ranked Rilski Sportist (1-14) by 34 points 80-46, which is the biggest margin this round. The game without a history. Levski led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rilski Sportist to just 4 points in fourth quarter. Levski dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Rilski Sportist's 36. Levski forced 21 Rilski Sportist turnovers and outrebounded them 36-21 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Levski players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Rilski Sportist's players. Haskovo 2012 - Beroe 79-53

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Beroe's (4-11) road loss to fifth ranked Haskovo 2012 (6-8) 53-79. The game was mostly controlled by Haskovo 2012. Beroe was better in third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haskovo 2012 dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Beroe's 34. They outrebounded Beroe 37-16 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bosnian guard Amra Mehmedic (177-81) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Latvian center Anita Teilane (196-85) accounted for 14 points and 12 rebounds. Five Haskovo 2012 players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Marinela Agalareva (178-77, agency: Global Sports Plaza) came up with 14 points and 4 steals and Radostina Dimitrova (181-94) added 12 points respectively for Beroe in the defeat.
