The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Lukoil Academik as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Lukoil Academik smashed 6th ranked Euroins Cherno More in Sofia 87-65. The game without a history. Lukoil Academik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Euroins Cherno More to just 7 points in second quarter. Lukoil Academik dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Euroins Cherno More's 34 and made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Lukoil Academik looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Euroins Cherno More's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Devin Green (201-82, college: Hampton) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Brandon Heath (193-84, college: San Diego St.) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American guard Larry Hall (190-83, college: W.Oregon) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds for Euroins Cherno More. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Levski Sofia. Euroins Cherno More lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Euroins Cherno More will play next round against Spartak Pleven trying to get back on the winning streak. At the losing side forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rilski Sportist maintains third place with 9-4 record having just two points less than leader Lukoil Academik. Newly promoted U20 still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Rilski Sportist will play against league's second-placed Levski Sofia on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
