Nemanja Milosevic claims Bulgarian NBL weekly honour - Feb 3, 2013

Nemanja
Milosevic
Montenegrin Nemanja Milosevic (204-C/F-87, agency: Interperformances) had a very impressive game in the last round for Tundja Yambol and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 25-year old had a double-double of 21 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team edged out Spartak Pleven (#9, 4-11) 73-69. Tundja Yambol maintains the 5th position in Bulgarian NBL. Tundja Yambol is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 8-7 record. Milosevic turned to be Tundja Yambol's top player in his first season with the team. Western Kentucky University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Milosevic is in league's top in points (9th best: 15.9ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 9.7rpg) and averages solid 53.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old American center Darryl Watkins (211-C-84) of league's best team Lukoil Academik. Watkins impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Of course Lukoil Academik cruised to a 88-80 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Chernomorets (#8, 4-10). Of course Lukoil Academik still keep the league's top spot. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 13 matches. Watkins is a newcomer at Lukoil Academik and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Brazilian Atila Santos (208-C-83, agency: Warren Sports International) of Balkan (#4). Santos scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was a key player of Balkan, leading his team to a 84-68 easy win against the lower-ranked Beroe (#7, 6-9). Balkan needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 10 victories and 5 lost games. Santos has a great season in Bulgaria. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.3rpg (2nd best). He also has 1.3bpg and FGP: 52.1%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Terry Smith (185-PG-86) of Rilski Sportist - 22 points and 8 rebounds
5. Jordan Bozov (191-G-79) of Balkan - 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Zoran Kascelan (188-PG-86) of Tundja Yambol - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Hristo Zahariev (197-SG-90) of Rilski Sportist - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Tihomir Zhelev (193-SG-90) of Cherno More - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Branko Mirkovic (190-G-82) of Rilski Sportist - 16 points, 2 rebounds and 8 assists
10. Chavdar Kostov (195-SG-88) of Levski Sofia - 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Dee Bost selected the top Bulgarian playing abroad in last week's games - 14 hours ago
We bring you last week's top performances from Bulgarians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an international point guard Dee Bost (188-89, agency: BeoBasket). He could not help Monaco (30-4) in their last game. Despite Bost's good performance the league leader Monaco was edged 72-69 at home by the much lower-ranked (#8) ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket.    [read more]

Leones de Santo Domingo lands Travis Daniels, ex Balkan - 2 days ago
Defending champion Leones de Santo Domingo (LNB) tabbed 25-year old American forward Travis Daniels (202-98kg-92, college: Mississippi State). He moved there from Balkan in Bulgarian NBL league where he started the season. In 23 games he averaged 11.6ppg and 7.3rpg this season. Daniels helped them to make it to the Bulgarian Cup Semifinals. He can count that season as a very successful as was selected to Bulgarian League All-Star Game. He also played that season for Phoenix Galati in Roma...   [read more]
