The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Neftochimic (17-1) on the court of fourth ranked Haskovo 2012 on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Haskovo 2012 84-80. It ended at the same time the 17-game winning streak of Neftochimic. Haskovo 2012 made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for guard Zornitsa Naydenova (172-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Latvian center Anita Teilane (196-85) contributed with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. American power forward Ashley Gayle (193-90, college: Texas, agency: LBM Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists for Neftochimic. Haskovo 2012 (9-9) moved-up to third place, which they share with Levski. Neftochimic at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Haskovo 2012 is looking forward to face Levski (#4) in Sofia in the next round. Neftochimic will play on the road against Beroe in Stara Zagora and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Stara Zagora. Fifth ranked Montana 2003 (8-10) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Beroe (4-13) 61-60 in the game for the fifth place. The former international power forward Milena Tomova (189-82, college: FIU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners and Radostina Slavova-Naneva chipped in 11 points and 16 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Daphnee Frieson (193-88, college: Stetson) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Montana 2003 maintains fifth place with 8-10 record. Beroe lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Montana 2003 will play against bottom-ranked Rilski Sportist (#7) in Samokov in the next round. Beroe will play at home against the league's leader Neftochimic in Burgas and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Anne Farrell came up with 8 points and 11 rebounds for Rilski Sportist in the defeat. Defending champion maintains second place with 14-4 record having just three points less than leader Neftochimic. Rilski Sportist lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Dunav 8806 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rilski Sportist will play against Montana 2003 (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.



Beroe - Montana 2003 60-61

Important game to mention about took place in Stara Zagora. Fifth ranked Montana 2003 (8-10) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Beroe (4-13) 61-60 in the game for the fifth place. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. The former international power forward Milena Tomova (189-82, college: FIU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners and the former international power forward Radostina Slavova-Naneva (188-86) chipped in 11 points and 16 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Daphnee Frieson (193-88, college: Stetson) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Galina Georgieva (188-88) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Montana 2003 maintains fifth place with 8-10 record. Beroe lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Montana 2003 will play against bottom-ranked Rilski Sportist (#7) in Samokov in the next round. Beroe will play at home against the league's leader Neftochimic in Burgas and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The game in Samokov supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Dunav 8806 (14-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Rilski Sportist (1-16). Dunav 8806 smashed Rilski Sportist 76-49 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Dunav 8806. Rilski Sportist managed to win third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rilski Sportist to just 7 points in first quarter. Dunav 8806 dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Rilski Sportist's 22. American forward Kristina Santiago (185-89, college: Cal Poly - SLO, agency: LBM Management) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side and her fellow American import forward Amanda Johnson (187-90, college: Oregon, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Dunav 8806's coach Georgi Bozhkov felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Anne Farrell (187-88, college: Centenary, LA, agency: Global Sports Plaza) came up with 8 points and 11 rebounds and center Tsvetelina Nikolova (191-88) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Rilski Sportist in the defeat. Montana 2003 head coach Stefan Mihaylov was appointed and will be in charge of Bulgaria Women NT for the next 2 years. Mihaylov received an unanimous vote after the competition went short. Stefan Mihaylov was assistant coach for Georgi Bozhkov in the previous qualifications cycle. He is yet to announce his coaching staff.
