Rilski Sportist claimed the first win at the Second Stage of the Balkan League season. They held off visiting KK Kumanovo at home court to improve at 3-3 record in First Six Group. Branko Mirkovic (190-G-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) stepped up with 21 points to lead the winners.
Rilski Sportist got to a confident start to the game. The Bulgarian team unleashed 25 points in the first quarter to take a 7-point lead. The teams traded baskets throughout the second quarter. Rilski Sportist secured a 7-point advantage at the interval 41:34. The hosts deepened the margin in the third term. They held Kumanovo to 16 points in the quarter to secure a 12-point lead before the fourth quarter. Rilski Sportist knocked down 26 points in the fourth frame and secured a well-deserved win at the end. Terry Smith (185-PG-86, college: Mercyhurst) produced 18 points, while Braxton Dupree (203-F-89, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management, college: Towson) added 16 points for the hosts. Uros Lukovic (212-C-89) answered with 26 points and 14 boards for KK Kumanovo. Aleksandar Kostoski (186-G-88, agency: Global Sports Plaza) had 18 points in the loss.
