Vera Perostiyska signs at Valosun Brno, ex Levski - Feb 17, 2013

Valosun KP Brno (ZBL) landed 31-year old Bulgarian ex-international center Vera Perostiyska (195-82, college: FIU). She played recently at Levski in Bulgarian NBL league. Perostiyska managed to play in three leagues in two countries this year (!!!). In 6 NBL games this season she averaged impressive 15.3ppg, 8.0rpg, 1.3apg and 1.0bpg. She also played at Union Hainaut (LFB) in French league earlier that season. In 12 games this year she had 8.2ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3bpg. Perostiyska also played 8 games in Eurocup where she had 11.8ppg, 7.8rpg and 1.5apg. The most of last season she spent at Athinaikos (A1) in Greek league. In 16 games she had 9.6ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1bpg. She helped them to win the league title and the cup. It was a very successful season in her career as she was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Greek League Honorable Mention and All-Bosmans Team. The other team Perostiyska played that season for was Beroe (NBL) in Bulgarian league. In 8 games she had very impressive stats: 22.9ppg, 12.9rpg, 2.5apg and 1.3bpg.
The previous (10-11) season she played at Energa Torun (PLKK) in Polish league. In 27 games that year she had 9.3ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.4apg and 1.3bpg. She contributed to her team making it to the cup final. Perostiyska also played 7 games in Eurocup where she had 7.3ppg and 4.3rpg.
Among other achievements she received Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Player of the Year award and Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Defensive Player of the Year award back in 2009 and 2010. Perostiyska also represented Bulgaria at the Qualifications to European Championships 2013 last year. Her stats at that event were 8 games: 12.4ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.1apg, FGP: 50.6%, FT: 73.9%.
Perostiyska has played also professionally in Slovakia (Dannax Sport), Turkey (Ceyhan Bld, Cankaya and Samsun).
She attended Florida International University until 2001 and it will be her twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Bulgarian players, who play currently abroad. This week's number one is former international forward Radoslava Bachvarova (183-87). She could not help Vasas Akademia (5-15) in their last game. Despite Bachvarova's good performance Vasas Akademia lost 63-76 on the road to the higher-ranked (#5) PEAC-Pecs.    [read more]
