Division A Round 10: UE Varna loses #1 position - Feb 18, 2013

Round 10 in Division A means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Blagoevgrad where host Academic Blagoevgrad (7-3) edged league's leader UE Varna (7-3) 71-70 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of UE Varna. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Academic Blagoevgrad moved-up to second place, which they share with UE Varna and Thrace Univ. UE Varna will play next round against Academik Plovdiv trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Academic Blagoevgrad will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Thrace Univ. in Stara Zagora.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Spartak MVR as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Spartak MVR smashed 6th ranked Dunav 2007 in Sofia 92-73. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Dunav 2007 at the other side keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Dunav 2007 will play next round against Chavdar trying to get back on the winning streak. Spartak MVR will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Vidabasket at home.

Thrace Univ. will meet at home Academic Blagoevgrad (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Chavdar will play against Dunav 2007 (#6) in Ruse and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Vida was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Academik Plovdiv (5-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Vidabasket (1-9). Academik Plovdiv defeated Vidabasket 91-77. Academik Plovdiv maintains fifth position with 5-5 record. Vidabasket lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Academik Plovdiv's next round opponent will be league's second-placed UE Varna on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Vidabasket will play against the league's leader Spartak MVR (#1) in Sofia.



Chavdar - Thrace Univ. 81-93

Cherno More Ticha (NBL) tabbed experienced 35-year old Serbian point guard Milijan Bocka (185-82). It is actually his comeback to Cherno More as he has played here before. Academic Bultex 99 Plovdiv (NBL) strengthened their roster with the addition of 25-year old American point guard Isiah Umipig (183-88kg-92, college: Seattle). Last season he played at KW Titans in the Canadian NBL. In 16 NBL Canada games he recorded 12.3ppg, 2.0rpg, 5.6apg and 1.1spg.
