Hristo
Zahariev
International shooting guard Hristo Zahariev (197-SG-90) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Rilski Sportist, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 22-year old player had a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Beroe (#6, 7-11) 100-85. Rilski Sportist maintains the 3rd position in Bulgarian NBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Rilski Sportist will need more victories to improve their 13-5 record. In the team's last game Zahariev had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Rilski Sportist and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Hristo Zahariev has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 18.3ppg) and averages impressive 57.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 22-year old Dimitar Marintchechki (201-F/C-90, agency: Dynamics Global Management) of Spartak Pleven. Marintchechki had a very good evening with a double-double of 32 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Spartak Pleven lost that game 81-90 to the higher-ranked Balkan (#4, 12-6). Spartak Pleven managed to keep the same 9th spot in the standings. 14 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Spartak Pleven managed to get this year. Marintchechki is a newcomer at Spartak Pleven, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Greek forward Dimitris Haritopoulos (205-F/C-83, agency: Interperformances) of league's top team Lukoil Academik. Haritopoulos scored 25 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Lukoil Academik, leading his team to a 92-55 easy win against U20 (#10, 0-18). Lukoil Academik confirms their top position in the standings Haritopoulos has a very solid season. In 2 games in Bulgaria he scored 18.0ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nemanja Milosevic (204-C/F-87) of Tundja Yambol - 19 points and 11 rebounds
5. Will Walker (183-G-87) of Beroe - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists
6. Brian Ormon (201-F-84) of Tundja Yambol - 16 points and 12 rebounds
7. Bogdan Boev (196-SG-82) of Chernomorets - 22 points and 3 rebounds
8. Reginald Holmes (193-G-87) of Beroe - 32 points and 3 rebounds
9. Stanimir Marinov (191-G-91) of Balkan - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Vladimir Panic (194-F-82) of Balkan - 15 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Samsunspor DSI (TBL) tabbed 31-year old Bulgarian ex-international power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-104kg-86, agency: BeoBasket). He is not a newcomer in Turkish League as he played most recently at Yesilgiresun in Turkish BSL league. In 18 games he averaged 10.0ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.1apg last season.
