Here is the weekly review of the top performing Bulgarian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Jaklin Zlatanova (190-88, currently plays in Spain). She managed to help Rivas Ecopolis in a victory against the seventh-ranked Gran Canaria (7-10) crushing them 91-58 in the Spanish LFB in Saturday night's game. Zlatanova recorded only 4 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 23 minutes on the court. It was his first game for Rivas Ecopolis this season. Her team is placed first in the LFB. It was her team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Ex-Rilski Sportist Samokov player is currently a member of the Bulgarian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman Daniela Georgieva (184-86, currently plays in Italy). Georgieva led Marghera to a victory over the 11th-ranked Valmadrera (7-16) 44-39 in the Italian A2 (12th division) last Saturday. She was MVP of the game. Georgieva scored 12 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, passed 5 assists and added 2 blocks. Sernavimar Marghera (14-9) is placed fifth in North group. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Georgieva has relatively good stats this season: 13.4ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.8apg, 2.4spg, 2FGP: 48.5%, 3FGP: 16.0% and FT: 60.5%. She is in the roster of the Bulgarian senior national team.

   #3. The Bulgarian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Vera Perostiyska (195-82, college: FIU, currently plays in Czech Republic). Perostiyska contributed to a Valosun Brno's victory against the leader VSE Praha (12-12) 75-66 in the Czech Republic ZBL on Saturday night. She scored 10 points in 25 minutes. It was his first game for Valosun Brno this season. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group A2. Her team is placed third. Ex-Beroe 07 Stara Zagora player is also a member of the Bulgarian senior national team.

   #4. An experienced forward Evelina Guneva (183-80, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Spain) helped Gernika win their game against the 11th-ranked Tenerife (5-13) crushing them 78-57 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) in Saturday night's game. Guneva scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Gernika KESB (9-9) is placed sixth in Group B. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. It's Guneva's first season with the team. This year she has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.5apg. Guneva used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2006.

Former international guard Noelle Quinn (183-85, college: UCLA, currently plays in France), who plays in the French LFB could not help one of league's weakest teams Mondeville (8-12) to beat Villeneuve D'Ascq (9-12). She scored only 4 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 22 minutes. Mondeville lost 71-79 at home to the higher-ranked (#8) Villeneuve D'Ascq. This year Quinn's overall stats are: 9.3ppg, 4.3rpg and 2.0apg in the six games she played so far. She is a naturalized American. Quinn used to play for the Bulgarian national team four years ago. Strangely she has never played in Bulgaria.

   #6. Point guard Doneeka Hodges-Lewis (175-82, agency: LBM Management, college: LSU, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to help Canik Bld (8-13) in their game against Galatasaray (18-3) in the Turkish TKBL. Hodges-Lewis scored 5 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists. Canik Bld was crushed 67-39 on their home court in Samsun by the second-ranked Galatasaray. Hodges-Lewis has reliable stats this season: 15.0ppg, 3.5rpg, 3.8apg and 1.6spg. She is a naturalized American. Hodges-Lewis is a former international player as she played for the Bulgarian senior team two years ago. Apparently she has never played in Bulgaria.

Former international guard Ekaterina Dimitrova (182-87, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Charleville-Mezieres (8-13) in their game against Perpignan (14-7) in the French LFB. Dimitrova scored 8 points in 17 minutes. Charleville-Mezieres lost 59-73 on the road to the much higher-ranked (#3) Perpignan. This year Dimitrova's total stats are: 5.5ppg, 2.0rpg, 1.6apg and 1.7spg in the 21 games. She used to play for the Bulgarian national team two years ago.

   #8. Center Stefka Miteva (190-89, currently plays in Belgium), who plays in the Belgian Division I couldn't help Blue Cats (4-17) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Miteva's good performance Blue Cats was defeated 72-62 on their home court in Ieper by the much higher-ranked Sint Kateline Waver (#4). She scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Miteva's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Miteva is currently sixth on the list of best rebounders and also on the list of best blockers (third place). This season she averages: 8.7ppg and 7.7rpg. Miteva plays currently for the Bulgarian national team.

   #9. Former international forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help San Salvatore (8-15) in their game against San Martino (20-3) in the Italian A2 (12th division). She scored 6 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 33 minutes. The tenth-placed San Salvatore was crushed 79-50 on their home court in San Salvatore by the second-ranked San Martino in the North group. It was San Salvatore's fourth consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Yordanova's stats this year are: 12.8ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.3apg and 1.3spg in the 23 games. She used to play for the Bulgarian national team two years ago.

Despite Karchovska's good performance Visby Ladies (#4) lost 68-78 in Kinna to the higher-ranked (#3) Mark Basket in the Group 2. She recorded 10 points, 3 assists and 3 steals in 27 minutes. They ended the series of three consecutive victories. There are only two games left until the end of the Second Stage. Karchovska has averaged so far 7.6ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.3apg and 1.3spg in the seven games. She is an international player who is currently on the senior Bulgarian National Team roster.

   #11. Former U20 international guard Gergana Georgieva (180-87, currently plays in Germany) helped ASC Theresianum Mainz win their game against the tenth-ranked Hagen Phoenix 82-64 in the German 2.Bundesliga (12th division) on Saturday night. Georgieva recorded 6 points. Georgieva's stats this season are: 12.5ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.5apg and 1.5spg. She used to play for the Bulgarian U20 national team six years ago.

   #12. International center Aleksandra Delcheva (202-87, agency: Promotex, currently plays in Czech Republic) helped DSK Karlin win their game against the fourth-ranked BK Pliska Studanka 64-54 in the Czech Republic ZBL in Sunday night's game. Delcheva scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 16 minutes. Delcheva has averaged so far 3.2ppg and 3.6rpg in the 23 games. She is also in the roster of the Bulgarian national team.

The list of other players, who all have Bulgarian passport but never been selected to any of Bulgarian national teams:

   #1. Viktoria Mircheva (190-C-87, currently plays in France) managed to help Nantes Reze Basket to win against the league outsider Union Hainaut (5-16) 60-55 in the French LFB in Friday night's game. Mircheva scored only 1 points. Nantes Reze Basket (10-11) is placed seventh in the LFB. It was her team's first victory after four consecutive loses. Mircheva has averaged so far 7.2ppg and 3.3rpg. She has a dual citizenship: Ukrainian and Bulgarian.

   #2. Ana Petrova (170-F-82, currently plays in Luxembourg), who plays in the Luxembourg Diekirch League could not help Etzella (15-4) to beat Musel Pikes (13-10). Petrova scored 8 points. Etzella (#2) was defeated 74-67 at home by the lower-ranked Musel Pikes (#5) in the Places 1-6 group. Petrova has averaged so far 9.7ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.8apg and 1.7spg. She is another player who holds two passports: Bulgarian and Luxembourg.

Chelsey Lee agreed terms with Haskovo 2012 - 3 days ago

Haskovo 2012 (NBL) inked 27-year old American center Chelsey Lee (193-89, college: Rutgers). She played in the summer at Washington Mystics (WNBA). The last season Lee played at Hanabank in South Korean WKBL where in 41 games she recorded 14.9ppg, 10.5rpg (leader !!!), 1.1spg and 1.1bpg. She played in the final of WKBL. Lee has played previously professionally in Romania (Galati) and Spain (CREF Hola). She attended Rutgers, The State University until 2013 and it will be her fourth season...   [read more]

Saces Mapei Napoli (Seria A1) tabbed 18-year old Bulgarian center Polina Chelenkova (180-98). She played most recently at the junior team of Irpino in Serie A2. However her team was relegated to Serie A3. But in only one Serie A2 game she did not score anything. Chelenkova represented Bulgaria at the European Championships U16 Division B for Women in Tallinn (Estonia) two years ago. Her stats at that event were 7 games: 1.1ppg. Montana 2003 adds Georgieva to their roster - 10 days ago

Montana 2003 (NBL) added to their roster 20-year old Bulgarian point guard Iva Georgieva (170-96). She just graduated from Salt Lake CC (JUCO). She helped them to make it to the final and they also made it to the NJCAA D1 Elite Eight. A very spectacular season in her career as she was voted to All-European Championships U20 Division B Honorable Mention.
