Despite the absence of Chavdar Kostov, and two new additions Mladen Pantic and Nemanja Protic, Levski successfully started the third stage of the men's NBL. They were able to defeat Beroe at home in a high scoring game with 91-83. With that victory Levski remains at second place with 16 wins and three defeats as they will host Balkan in the next round.

The game started very even on both ends of the floor, but at the end of the first quarter of the team from Stara Zagora grabbed a 8 points lead with 23-15. Levski responded with a series of 23 to three and overturned the score in their favor - 38-26. At the half time break the difference was the same - 12 points for the favorites in this game Levski were up 49-37. After that Levski had double digit advance, but before the middle of the fourth quarter dropped their lead to only 6 points. Levski didnt allowed their opponent to cut it more and ended the meeting with ultimate motivation. At the end the result was 91-83 in favor of Levski for their win number 16 in the championship.

Interesting note is that both teams scored 11 three pointers, while Levski had more rebounds 30-24 in their favor.

After great game againt Teodo Tivat in the midweek, today Pavel Ivanov (200-SF-88) played great and was the top scorer with 17 points (4 threes). Besides his 15 points, Marko Marinovic added 11 assists. Nikolay Varbanov finished with 12 points, Hrisimir Dimitrov 11 off the bench, while Georgiev brothers Zlatin and Stefan scored 10 points apiece.

For the visitors Will Walker managed 28 points (6/6 behind the arc). Reggie Holmes added 20 points. Third American - Mitchell Carter finished with 13 points.

Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. DR Congolese forward Omari Gudul (206-94, college: Angelo St., agency: Two Points) contributed...   [read more]
