Chelsey Lee
An interesting game for Haskovo 2012 (9-2) which hosted in Haskovo 3rd placed Beroe (6-4). First ranked Haskovo 2012 managed to get a 6-point victory 82-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Beroe. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Haskovo 2012 made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Chelsey Lee (193-89, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). International Violina Kocheva (175-91) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American swingman Jazmine Perkins (178-89, college: Washington St.) answered with 27 points and 8 rebounds for Beroe. Beroe's coach Tatyana Gateva rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Haskovo 2012 have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-2 record. Beroe at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Haskovo 2012 are looking forward to face Neftochimic (#4) in Burgas in the next round. Beroe will play at home against the league's second-placed Montana 2003 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Septemvri is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their 11th consecutive match to second ranked Montana 2003 (7-3) 119-53. International forward Hristina Ivanova (183-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and Daniela Peteva chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. At the losing side guard Ivona Ilieva (176-98) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 7-3 record having just three points less than leader Haskovo 2012. Septemvri at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Montana 2003 will play against Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Septemvri will have a break next round.
