Charel Allen
An exciting game was played in Montana. Second ranked Montana 2003 faced 4th placed Neftochimic. Host Montana 2003 (8-4) defeated guests from Burgas (4-8) 73-62. Montana 2003 outrebounded Neftochimic 46-19 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Charel Allen (181-86, college: Notre Dame) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Tsvetomira Sharenkapova (184-91) chipped in 8 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Montana 2003's coach Stefan Mihaylov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican guard Ashley Prim (170-91, college: St.Joseph's, agency: Gamble Sports Management) who recorded 17 points and 5 assists. Defending champion maintains second place with 8-4 record having just two points less than leader Haskovo 2012, which they share with Beroe. Neftochimic lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Montana 2003 is looking forward to face league's leader Haskovo 2012 at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Neftochimic will play against Septemvri in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Septemvri (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 121-33 loss to third ranked Beroe (8-4) in Sofia. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. It was a good game for American center Cierra Robertson-Warren (193-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds. Vili Kracholova contributed with 10 points and 7 assists for the winners. Camellia Andonova (177-98) answered with 9 points and 13 rebounds for Septemvri. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Beroe moved-up to second place, which they share with Montana 2003. Septemvri at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Beroe will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Septemvri will play at home against Neftochimic (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
