The most exciting game of round 19 in the NBL took place in Sofia. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent Academik Plovdiv (11-6) to first ranked Lukoil Acad. (14-3) 82-80 in the game for the first place. Lukoil Acad. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Academik Plovdiv's 38. 24 personal fouls committed by Academik Plovdiv helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American center Steve Zack (211-92, college: La Salle) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American-Cameroonian point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists. Montenegrin guard Milorad Sutulovic (196-90) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-3 record. Academik Plovdiv at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Beroe. Lukoil Acad. are looking forward to face Balkan (#5) in Botevgrad in the next round. Academik Plovdiv will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Levski managed to get a fourth victory. This time they edged sixth-ranked Spartak Pleven 76-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Spartak Pleven. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Pavel Ivanov (200-88, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Veselin Veselinov contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Martin Marinov (191-85, agency: 011 Sports) answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Spartak Pleven. Levski maintains ninth place with 4-13 record. Spartak Pleven at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Levski will play against higher ranked Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spartak Pleven will play at home against Yambol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Cherno More will play against Rilski in Samokov and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 19 Balkan was defeated by Rilski in Samokov 80-73.
The best stats of 19th round was 26 points and 11 rebounds by DJ Shelton of Rilski.

Rilski - Balkan 80-73

Everything could happen in Samokov at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Rilski and 5th ranked Balkan had identical 9-7 record. This time Rilski used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Botevgrad 80-73 on Saturday night. Rilski made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward DJ Shelton (208-91, college: Washington St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Yordan Bozov (191-79) helped adding 22 points and 7 assists. At the losing side American forward Travis Daniels (202-92, college: Mississippi St.) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Montenegrin guard Amin Hott (192-92) scored 17 points and 9 assists. Rilski have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 10-7 record. Balkan lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost.
