We bring you last week's top performances from Bulgarians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Darius Adams (188-89, agency: Stealth Sport, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in China). He led Xinjiang Flying Tige to a victory over the eighth-ranked Shandong Bulls (22-16) 119-104 in the Chinese CBA in Sunday night's game. Adams was MVP of the game. He scored 37 points (!!!), grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 42 minutes on the court. Xinjiang Flying Tigers (32-6) are placed first in the CBA. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. It's Adams' first season with the team. Adams has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 31.2ppg, 5.6rpg, 5.8apg, 1.9spg, 2FGP: 55.5%(268-483), 3FGP: 35.5% and FT: 86.7% in 39 games he played so far. Adams is a naturalized American. He is currently a member of the Bulgarian senior national team. Strangely Adams has never played in Bulgaria.

Dee Bost

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Dee Bost (188-89, agency: BeoBasket, college: Mississippi St., currently plays in France). He was the main contributor in Monaco's victory against the 11th-ranked Le Mans (9-11) 88-77 in the French ProA last Saturday. Bost was the best player in that game. He scored 22 points and added 5 passes. AS Monaco Basket (18-2) is placed first in the ProA. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. Bost has relatively good stats this season: 13.4ppg, 3.1rpg, 5.4apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 43.0%, 3FGP: 35.6% and FT: 79.4%. He is a naturalized American. Bost is in the roster of the Bulgarian senior national team. Apparently he has never played in Bulgaria.

   #3. The Bulgarian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Alexander Vezenkov (206-95, currently plays in Euroleague). Vezenkov contributed to a FC Barcelona's victory against the 14th-ranked Armani Milano (7-16) 83-78 in the Euroleague on Thursday night. He scored 13 points, grabbed 5 boards, passed 5 assists and added 3 steals in 30 minutes. FC Barcelona Lassa (9-14) is placed 11th in group A. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. This year Vezenkov's overall stats are: 7.5ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 68.3%(41-60), 3FGP: 51.1%(24-47) and FT: 86.4% in 23 games. He has a dual citizenship: Cypriot and Bulgarian. Despite Vezenkov played previously for the Cypriot U16 national team, he is currently a member of the Bulgarian senior national team.

An experienced point guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in VTB United League) was the major contributor in Khimky's victory against the closely-ranked Lokomotiv (13-4) 89-84 in the VTB United League last Friday. He recorded 18 points and added 6 passes in 29 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BC Khimky Moscow Region (14-3) is placed third in the VTB United League. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. This year Rowland has relatively solid stats: 11.9ppg, 3.2rpg and 4.3apg in 16 games. He is a naturalized American. Rowland used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2011. Interesting that he has never played in Bulgaria.

International shooting guard Ivan Lilov (194-88, agency: Two Points, currently plays in Hungary) helped Szedeak win their game against the league outsider MAFC (3-16) 85-67 in the Hungarian A Division on Saturday night. Lilov was the top player that evening. He recorded 28 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Naturtex-SZTE-Szedeak Szeged (9-10) is placed eighth in the A Division. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. This season Lilov has very high stats. He averages: 21.5ppg, 4.3rpg, 4.0apg and 1.5spg. Lilov plays currently for the Bulgarian national team.

Shooting guard Chavdar Kostov (195-88, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Greece) helped Kymis win their game against the league outsider Doxa Lefkadas (3-16) crushing them 97-65 in the Greek A1 in Saturday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Kostov recorded 18 points in 22 minutes. GS Kymis (6-13) is placed 12th in the A1. It was his team's first victory after seven consecutive loses. This year Kostov's total stats are: 8.0ppg and 3.0rpg in 11 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Bulgarian National Team roster.

Former international power forward Hristo Nikolov (200-85, agency: 011 Sports, currently plays in Poland) helped Stal Ostrow Wlkp. win their game against the tenth-ranked Wilki Morskie (11-10) 74-69 in the Polish PLK last Saturday. Nikolov scored 12 points. BM Slam Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (14-8) is placed fourth in the PLK. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Nikolov has averaged so far 10.0ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.2apg. He used to play for the Bulgarian national team three years ago.

Guard Earl Calloway (191-83, college: Indiana, currently plays in Turkey) helped Istanbul BBSK win their game against the league outsider TED Kolejliler (1-18) 100-81 in the Turkish BSL last Saturday. Calloway recorded 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 28 minutes. Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesi (7-12) is placed 12th in the BSL. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. Calloway has reliable stats this year: 11.8ppg, 4.3rpg, 5.1apg and 1.7spg in 17 games. He is a naturalized American. Calloway used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2010. However he has never played in Bulgaria.

Former international power forward Cedric Simmons (206-86, college: N.Carolina St., currently plays in Estonia) helped Kalev/Cramo win their game against the closely-ranked TTU (10-8) crushing them 108-80 in a derby game in the Estonian Alexela KML on Saturday night. Simmons recorded 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. BC Kalev/Cramo Tallinn (14-2) is placed second in the Alexela KML. It was his team's 14th consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Simmons has averaged so far 9.7ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.5apg and 1.2bpg. He is a naturalized American. Simmons used to play for the Bulgarian national team five years ago.

Forward Aleksandar Yanev Georgiev (203-90, also represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Croatia) helped KK Zadar win their game against the closely-ranked Jolly (15-3) 84-72 in the Croatian A1 in Monday night's game. Yanev Georgiev scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 17 minutes. KK Zadar (9-7) is placed fifth in the A1. Yanev Georgiev has averaged so far 4.2ppg and 2.6rpg in five games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Bulgarian National Team roster.

   #11. U18 international forward Yordan Minchev (202-98, currently plays in Serbia) managed to help KK Vrsac Swisslion in a victory against the closely-ranked Spartak crushing them 101-74 in the Serbian KLS on Sunday night. Minchev scored 5 points in 6 minutes. It was his first game for Vrsac this season. Minchev plays currently for the Bulgarian U18 national team.

   #12. Former international power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Turkey) helped Tofas win their game against one of league's weakest teams Balikesir 86-81 in the Turkish BSL in Saturday night's game. He recorded only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Ivanov's stats this season are: 11.9ppg, 4.4rpg and 2.7apg. He used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2013.

   #13. Former international small forward Pavel Marinov (199-88, another player represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Romania). Marinov could not help Pitesti to beat Targu Mures. He recorded 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in 30 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 16 points 93-77. Marinov's stats this year are: 14.0ppg, 4.9rpg and 4.2apg in 21 games. He used to play for the Bulgarian national team three years ago.

   #14. Former international power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-86, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to help Yesilgiresun Bld in their game against Besiktas in the Turkish BSL. Ivanov cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points and added 3 assists. His team was badly defeated by 20 points 82-62. Ivanov has averaged so far 9.4ppg and 5.4rpg. He used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2013.

   #15. International forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Gipuzkoa in their game against Palencia Baloncesto in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Simeonov cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 11 minutes. His team lost 83-92. Simeonov has averaged so far 5.2ppg and 3.0rpg in 23 games. He is also in the roster of the Bulgarian national team.


The list of other players, who all have Bulgarian passport but never been selected to any of Bulgarian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Willie Deane (188-PG-80, agency: Higher Vision Sports, college: Purdue, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) could not help Ventspils (7-7) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Deane's very good performance the fifth-placed Ventspils (7-7) was defeated 70-61 on the road by the higher-ranked Umana Venezia (#3) in the group C of Basketball Champions League. He was the top scorer with 18 points. Deane also added 4 boards, dished 4 assists and stole 3 balls. This season Deane has relatively solid stats: 13.3ppg, 2.6rpg, 4.1apg and 1.8spg. He is a naturalized American. Deane used to play for PBC Lukoil Akademik Sophia in Bulgarian league.

   #2. Ilian Evtimov (201-F-83, college: N.Carolina St., currently plays in France) led Cholet Basket to a 1-point victory over the closely-ranked JDA Dijon (7-13) 72-71 in the French ProA on Saturday night. Evtimov was the top player that evening. He scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 29 minutes. Cholet Basket (7-13) is placed 16th in the ProA. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. Evtimov has reliable stats this year: 11.7ppg, 3.8rpg and 2.0apg in 20 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Bulgarian and French.

   #3. Kiril Pavlovski (210-C-85, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in FYR Macedonia) was the major contributor in Rabotnicki's victory against the sixth-ranked Pelister Bitola (4-9) crushing them 95-60 in the FYR Macedonian Prva Liga in Saturday night's game. Pavlovski recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds. KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje (11-2) is placed first in the Prva Liga. The Regular Season already ended. Pavlovski has averaged so far 4.8ppg and 3.8rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Bulgarian and FYR Macedonian.

   #4. Dimitar Karadzovski (190-G-84, also represented by Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in Balkan League) contributed to Kumanovo's victory against one of league's weakest teams Peja (2-3) 80-76 in the Balkan League last Wednesday. Karadzovski scored 10 points and added 3 assists. KK Kumanovo 2009 (4-1) is placed ninth in the Balkan League. His team will play only one more game in the Balkan League Second Stage. And that game will be critical. Karadzovski has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 3.3rpg and 3.1apg. He has both Bulgarian and FYR Macedonian nationalities.

   #5. Boris Matrakov (195-G-93, currently plays in United Kingdom) managed to help Glasgow Rocks to win against the closely-ranked Plymouth Raiders (12-10) 98-80 in the British BBL in Sunday night's game. Matrakov scored only 2 points. Glasgow Rocks (16-5) is placed third in the BBL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This season Matrakov averages just 1.2ppg.

   #6. Kristoffer Gafor (195-G-92, currently plays in Sweden) was not able to help Trelleborg (4-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the fourth-placed Trelleborg was defeated 101-95 in Lulea by the lower-ranked LF Future (#5) in the Superettan group. Gafor scored 11 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Gafor has averaged so far 9.5ppg, 4.0rpg and 2.0apg. He also holds two passports: Bulgarian and Swedish.

   #7. Georgi Krastev (195-SF-94, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Limburg crushing them 100-76 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. Krastev recorded 6 points. Krastev has averaged so far 5.9ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.9apg.

   #8. Boyan Tenev (204-F-88, college: Lincoln Memorial, currently plays in Germany) was not able to secure a victory for Aschersleben in their game against RW Cuxhaven in the German Regionalliga (fourth division). He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Tenev recorded only 3 points in 16 minutes. His team lost 72-86. Tenev has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 1.2rpg in 15 games.

   #9. Kristiyan Borisov (188-G-88, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Fellbach crushing them 95-62 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) on Sunday night. He recorded 6 points. This season Borisov averages only 2.7ppg.

Talented Nikolay Nikolov (201-SF-97) had an amazing evening in the last round for UE Varna and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Division A Player of the Week award for round 1. The 20-year old had the game-high 26 points adding eight rebounds and two assists for UE Varna in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Shumen (#5, 0-1) with 31-point margin 98-67. The Regular Season in Division A just started. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The biggest surprise of round 1 in Division A took place in Troyan where host Chavdar (1-0) beat Beroe-2 (0-1) 97-84 on Sunday evening. Chavdar made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Forward Lubomir Lilov (200-87) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners.
