Aaron Jones claims Bulgarian NBL weekly honour - Feb 28, 2017

Aaron Jones
American Aaron Jones (206-F-93, agency: Two Points) had a great game in the last round for Beroe and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 23-year old forward had a double-double of 18 points and eleven rebounds, while his team beat Cherno More (#7, 5-12) 77-67. Beroe maintains the 3rd position in Bulgarian NBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Beroe will need more victories to improve their 11-6 record. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Beroe's top player in his first season with the team. Aaron Jones averages this season 13.1ppg and 7.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old American forward Travis Daniels (202-F-92) of Balkan. Daniels impressed basketball fans with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Bad luck as Balkan lost that game 73-80 to slightly higher-ranked Rilski (#4, 10-7). Balkan managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 9-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Daniels is a newcomer at Balkan and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Montenegrin Milorad Sutulovic (196-G-90) of second-ranked Akademik PL. Sutulovic scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds. Despite Sutulovic's great performance Akademik PL lost 80-82 to #1 ranked Lukoil Acad.. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Akademik PL needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 11 victories and 6 lost games. The season just started for Sutulovic as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.

Other top performing players last week:
4. D.J. Shelton (208-F-91) of Rilski - 26 points and 11 rebounds
5. Amin Hott (192-G-92) of Balkan - 17 points, 3 rebounds and 9 assists
6. Yordan Bozov (191-G-79) of Rilski - 22 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Jordan Semple (201-F-92) of Akademik PL - 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Stanislav Tsonkov (192-G-91) of Cherno More - 23 points and 3 rebounds
9. Pavel Ivanov (200-F/G-88) of Levski - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Evan Bruinsma (202-F-92) of Rilski - 12 points and 11 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Talented Nikolay Nikolov (201-SF-97) had an amazing evening in the last round for UE Varna and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Division A Player of the Week award for round 1.
