Fifth-ranked Balkan (9-9) was very close to win a game against first ranked Lukoil Acad. (15-3) in Sofia on Saturday. Lukoil Acad. managed to secure only three-point victory 62-59. However their fans expected much easier game. Ukrainian power forward Maxym Korniyenko (205-87, agency: BeoBasket) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. The former international guard Bozhidar Avramov (196-90, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Montenegrin guard Amin Hott (192-92) replied with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Balkan. Balkan's coach Nebojsa Vidic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-3 record. Balkan lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Spartak Pleven. Lukoil Acad. are looking forward to face Cherno More (#7) in Varna in the next round where they are favorite. Balkan will play on the road against Academik Plovdiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Seventh-ranked Cherno More (5-13) was very close to win a game against fourth ranked Rilski (11-7) in Samokov. Rilski managed to secure only three-point victory 97-94. However their fans expected easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Evan Bruinsma (202-92, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Inception Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds and Yordan Bozov who added 23 points and 4 assists during the contest. Guard Stanislav Tsonkov (192-91) responded with 40 points (!!!) and 4 assists (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rilski have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 11-7 record. Cherno More lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 13 games lost. Rilski will play against bottom-ranked Levski (#9) in Sofia in the next round where they are favorite. Cherno More will play at home against the league's leader Lukoil Acad. and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Levski at the other side stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Beroe will meet Yambol (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Levski will play against Rilski and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 20 Yambol was beaten by Spartak Pleven on the road 95-88.
The most impressive performance of 20th round was 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by Brandis Raley-Ross of Beroe.

Levski - Beroe 74-91

The game between 9th ranked Levski (4-14) and third ranked Beroe (12-6) in Sofia on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Stara Zagora beat Levski 91-74. They outrebounded Levski 37-22 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Beroe looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Levski's players. The winners were led by DR Congolese forward Omari Gudul (208-94, college: Angelo St., agency: Two Points) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Brandis Raley-Ross (191-87, college: S.Carolina) supported him with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Beroe's coach Ljubomir Minchev used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international forward Veselin Veselinov (202-83, college: W.Virginia St.) did not help to save the game for Levski. No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Spartak Pleven (9-9) beat at home 8th ranked Yambol (4-13) 95-88 on Saturday. Spartak Pleven made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Martin Marinov (191-85, agency: 011 Sports) who scored that evening 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Montenegrin-Serbian center Milovan Savic (205-87) supported him with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Even 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by guard Ventsislav Petkov (188-91, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Yambol. Forward Stoyan Petkov (198-85) added 18 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Spartak Pleven moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Balkan. Loser Yambol keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost.
