The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Lukoil Acad. (17-4) on the court of seventh ranked Yambol on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Yambol 80-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Lukoil Acad.. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lukoil Acad. won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Ventsislav Petkov (188-91, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 assists. The former international center Nikolay Varbanov (209-85, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American-Cameroonian point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds for Lukoil Acad.Yambol maintains seventh place with 6-14 record. Defending champion Lukoil Acad. still keeps top position with four games lost. Yambol are looking forward to face league's second-placed Academik Plovdiv at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lukoil Acad. will play against Spartak Pleven and is hoping to win this game.
Ninth-ranked Levski (4-17) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Academik Plovdiv (14-6) in Sofia. The visitors from Plovdiv managed to secure only one-point victory 106-105. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for American point guard Oscar Bellfield (187-90, college: UNLV) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. Jordan Semple helped adding 16 points and 12 rebounds. The former international swingman Pavel Ivanov (200-88, agency: Interperformances) responded with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Academik Plovdiv have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-6 record having four points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Levski lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Academik Plovdiv will play against Yambol (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Levski will play against Balkan in Botevgrad and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Rilski will meet higher ranked Beroe (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spartak Pleven will play against the league's leader Lukoil Acad. and hope to secure a win.

The best player for the winners was Mihailo Sekulovic who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Balkan's coach Nebojsa Vidic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Balkan moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Spartak Pleven. Cherno More lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 16 games lost. Balkan's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Levski (#9) in Sofia.

Rilski - Spartak Pleven 87-86

A very close game took place in Samokov between Rilski and Spartak Pleven. Fourth ranked Rilski (13-8) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Spartak Pleven (10-10). American forward DJ Shelton (208-91, college: Washington St.) accounted for 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Rilski players scored in double figures. Rilski's coach Ludmil Hadjisotirov used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Dimitar Marincheshki (200-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Milen Dudev (178-94) added 8 points and 8 assists respectively for Spartak Pleven in the defeat. Rilski maintains fourth place with 13-8 record. Spartak Pleven at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Balkan. Rilski will meet higher ranked Beroe (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
