The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 3 rounds.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Stara Zagora. Third ranked host Beroe (14-7) defeated one of their biggest challengers Rilski (13-9) 79-74. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Beroe made 8 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Brandis Raley-Ross (191-87, college: S.Carolina) who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Beroe's coach Ljubomir Minchev used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Evan Bruinsma (202-92, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Inception Sports) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Beroe maintains third position with 14-7 record having five points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Rilski at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Beroe are looking forward to face league's leader Lukoil Acad. in Sofia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rilski will have a break next round.
NBL top team - Lukoil Acad. (18-4) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Spartak Pleven (10-11) 82-76. The winners were led by American guard Anthony Beane (188-94, college: S.Illinois) who scored that evening 16 points and 4 assists and Danny Gibson supported him with 15 points and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists by power forward Dimitar Marincheshki (200-90) did not help to save the game for Spartak Pleven. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-4 record. Spartak Pleven at the other side dropped to the sixth place with 11 games lost. Lukoil Acad. will play against Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Spartak Pleven will play on the road against the league's second-placed Academik Plovdiv and hopes to get back on the winning track.

At the other side the best for losing team was Nikolay Varbanov who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Academik Plovdiv have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-6 record having four points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Loser Yambol keeps the seventh place with 15 games lost. Academik Plovdiv will meet at home Spartak Pleven (#6) in the next round. Yambol will play against Balkan in Botevgrad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Sixth ranked Balkan (11-10) crushed at home 9th ranked Levski (4-18) by 26 points 96-70, which is the biggest margin this round. The game without a history. Balkan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Levski's 42. They outrebounded Levski 37-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for the former international guard Stanimir Marinov (192-91, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 4 assists. Montenegrin guard Amin Hott (192-92) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Balkan players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Pavel Ivanov (200-88, agency: Interperformances) replied with 24 points and Angel Peychinov (201-95) added 15 points in the effort for Levski. The biggest surprise of round 1 in Division A took place in Troyan where host Chavdar (1-0) beat Beroe-2 (0-1) 97-84 on Sunday evening.
