There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in NBL. Host teams show no mercy winning all games.

Sixth-ranked Spartak Pleven (10-12) made lots of trouble for second ranked Academik Plovdiv (16-6) on Saturday. Academik Plovdiv managed to secure only one-point victory 97-96. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Spartak Pleven outrebounded Academik Plovdiv 46-20 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Shakir Smith (185-92, college: Adams St.) fired 30 points and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import point guard Oscar Bellfield (187-90, college: UNLV) chipped in 17 points and 12 assists. Academik Plovdiv's coach Asen Nikolov used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Dimitar Marincheshki (200-90) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Academik Plovdiv have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 16-6 record having four points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Spartak Pleven lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Academik Plovdiv are looking forward to face Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Spartak Pleven will play on the road against Balkan in Botevgrad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 19-4 record. Beroe at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Lukoil Acad. will play against Rilski (#4) in Samokov in the next round. Beroe will play on the road against the league's second-placed Academik Plovdiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 25 Yambol was defeated by Balkan in Botevgrad 78-69. Cherno More beat Levski at home 84-80.

Balkan - Yambol 78-69

There was no surprise in Botevgrad where 7th ranked Yambol (6-16) was defeated by fifth ranked Balkan (12-10) 78-69. Balkan players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin center Mihailo Sekulovic (206-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. The former international guard Stanimir Marinov (192-91, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 20 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Balkan players scored in double figures. Forward Stoyan Petkov (198-85) answered with 21 points and the former international center Nikolay Varbanov (209-85, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points in the effort for Yambol. The victory was the third consecutive win for Balkan. They maintain fifth place with 12-10 record. Yambol at the other side keeps the seventh position with 16 games lost. They share it with Cherno More. Balkan will play against Spartak Pleven (#6) at home in the next round. Yambol will play against Cherno More in Varna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Cherno More's (6-16) home victory over bottom-ranked Levski (4-19) 84-80. Cherno More forced 21 Levski turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Cypriot guard Angel Natskin (184-93) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 assists. Serbian power forward Nikola Djuric (201-91) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Cherno More players scored in double figures. International guard Evgeni Hadjirusev (193-95) answered with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international forward Stanislav Slaveykov (198-86) added 24 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Levski. Levski's coach Manuel Markov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cherno More moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Yambol. Levski lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Cherno More will play against Yambol (#8) at home in the next round. Levski will have a break next round.

The biggest surprise of round 1 in Division A took place in Troyan where host Chavdar (1-0) beat Beroe-2 (0-1) 97-84 on Sunday evening.
