We bring you last week's top performances from Bulgarians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Alexander Vezenkov (206-95, currently plays in Spain). He led FC Barcelona to a 3-point victory over one of league's weakest teams Zaragoza (8-19) 91-88 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. Vezenkov was MVP of the game. He recorded 21 points and added 3 passes in 26 minutes on the court. FC Barcelona Lassa (18-8) is placed fourth in the Liga Endesa. This year Vezenkov averages: 9.2ppg, 3.2rpg, 2FGP: 69.2%(54-78), 3FGP: 41.3% and FT: 80.5% in 26 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Cypriot and Bulgarian. Despite Vezenkov played previously for the Cypriot U16 national team, he is currently a member of the Bulgarian senior national team.

Dee Bost

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Dee Bost (188-89, agency: BeoBasket, college: Mississippi St., currently plays in France). Bost led Monaco to a victory against the eighth-ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (13-13) 92-88 in the French ProA last Sunday. He scored 17 points and added 3 passes. AS Monaco Basket (23-3) is placed first in the ProA. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Bost's first season with the team. Bost has relatively good stats this year: 13.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 5.2apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 41.9%, 3FGP: 36.5% and FT: 81.5%. He is a naturalized American. Bost is in the roster of the Bulgarian senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Bulgaria.

   #3. The Bulgarian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international guard Branko Mirkovic (190-82, agency: 011 Sports, currently plays in Estonia). He contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams BC Rakvere (9-23) crushing them 102-74 in the Estonian Alexela KML in Monday night's game. Mirkovic recorded 16 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. BC Kalev/Cramo Tallinn (29-3) is placed third in the Alexela KML. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. This season Mirkovic has relatively solid stats: 14.7ppg, 4.0rpg, 4.3apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 46.2%, 3FGP: 47.4%(9-19) and FT: 83.3%. He is another player who holds two passports: Serbian and Bulgarian. Former Rilski Sportlist Samokov starter played for the Bulgarian national team four years ago.

   #4. Guard Earl Calloway (191-83, college: Indiana, currently plays in Turkey) could not help Istanbul BBSK (9-16) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Calloway's very good performance Istanbul BBSK was defeated 74-67 in a derby game by the much higher-ranked Galatasaray (#4). He was the top scorer with 19 points. Calloway also added 5 rebounds. Calloway has reliable stats this season: 10.8ppg, 3.9rpg, 4.4apg and 1.6spg. He is a naturalized American. Calloway used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2010. Apparently he has never played in Bulgaria.

   #5. Former international point guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in VTB United League) was not able to help Khimki (17-5) in their last game. Despite Rowland's good performance the third-placed Khimki (17-5) lost 66-74 at home to the second-ranked Zenit in the group A of VTB United League. He recorded 10 points and added 3 passes in 25 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Rowland's stats this year are: 11.4ppg, 3.3rpg and 4.2apg in 21 games. He is a naturalized American. Rowland used to play for the Bulgarian national team six years ago. Interesting that he has never played in Bulgaria.

   #6. Shooting guard Ivan Lilov (194-88, agency: Two Points, currently plays in Hungary) led Szedeak to a victory over the leader PVSK Pannon (16-12) crushing them 99-73 in the Hungarian A Division last Saturday. Lilov was the best player in that game. He scored 22 points, made 5 passes and 4 steals. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 6-10. Naturtex-SZTE-Szedeak Szeged (15-14) is placed third in Places 6-10 group. Lilov has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 19.7ppg, 3.9rpg, 3.8apg and 1.6spg. Lilov is an international player who is currently on the senior Bulgarian National Team roster.

   #7. Former international small forward Pavel Marinov (199-88, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Romania) was not able to secure a victory for Pitesti (11-17) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Pitesti (#6) lost 90-97 on their home court in Pitesti to the higher-ranked (#5) BC Timisoara in the Places 1-6 group. Marinov was the top scorer with 27 points. He also added 6 passes in 33 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. Marinov averaged so far 14.1ppg, 4.4rpg and 4.0apg in 31 games. He used to play for the Bulgarian national team three years ago.

Shooting guard Chavdar Kostov (195-88, also represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Greece) contributed to Kymis' victory against one of league's weakest teams Apollon Patras (6-19) 76-70 in the Greek A1 last Saturday. Kostov recorded 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. GS Kymis (8-17) is placed 11th in the A1. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. This year Kostov's overall stats are: 8.4ppg and 2.9rpg in 17 games. He plays currently for the Bulgarian national team.

Former international power forward Cedric Simmons (206-86, college: N.Carolina St., currently plays in Estonia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Branko Mirkovic and both played together in the last Estonian Alexela KML game. Simmons contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams BC Rakvere (9-23) crushing them 102-74. He recorded 12 points. Simmons' total stats this season are: 9.4ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.5apg. He is a naturalized American. Simmons used to play for the Bulgarian national team five years ago. However he has never played in Bulgaria.

Power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-86, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Yesilgiresun Bld (9-16) in their game against Darussafaka (18-7) in the Turkish BSL. Ivanov recorded 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 27 minutes. Yesilgiresun Bld lost 77-87 on the road to the higher-ranked (#4) Darussafaka. It was Yesilgiresun Bld's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Ivanov averaged so far 10.2ppg and 5.5rpg in 13 games. He is a former international player as four years ago he still played for the Bulgarian senior national team.

   #11. International forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93, currently plays in Spain) contributed to Gipuzkoa's victory against the 16th-ranked Magia Huesca 75-62 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Sunday. Simeonov recorded 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Simeonov's total stats this season are: 5.9ppg and 3.4rpg. He plays currently for the Bulgarian national team.

   #12. Former international power forward Hristo Nikolov (200-85, another player represented by 011 Sports, currently plays in Poland) couldn't help BM Slam Stal in their game against Anwil in the Polish PLK. Nikolov scored 7 points in 25 minutes. His team lost 71-75. This year Nikolov's total stats are: 9.2ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.1apg in 27 games. He used to play for the Bulgarian national team back in 2014.

   #13. Former international power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Tofas in their game against Besiktas in the Turkish BSL. Ivanov recorded 8 points and had 3 steals. His team was edged 95-94. Ivanov averaged so far 11.1ppg, 4.3rpg and 2.3apg. He used to play for the Bulgarian national team four years ago.

   #14. U18 international forward Yordan Minchev (202-98, currently plays in Serbia) managed to help KK Vrsac Swisslion in a victory against the ninth-ranked Metalac 94-87 in the Serbian KLS last Monday. Minchev scored only 4 points in 5 minutes on the court. Minchev has averaged so far 2.0ppg and 2.0rpg in seven games. He plays currently for the Bulgarian U18 national team.

   #15. International center Jason Washburn (210-90, agency: Pensack Sports, college: Utah, currently plays in Japan) couldn't help Yokohama BC (15-36) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Washburn's good performance Yokohama BC (#5) were edged 69-66 in Tokyo by the higher-ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (#3) in the Central group. He was the top scorer with 14 points. This season Washburn has very high stats. He averages: 15.6ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.2apg. Washburn is a naturalized American. He is also in the roster of the Bulgarian national team.

   #1. Experienced Willie Deane (188-PG-80, agency: Higher Vision Sports, college: Purdue, currently plays in Latvia) was the major contributor in Ventspils' victory against the seventh-ranked Jurmala (12-19) 88-71 in the Latvian LBL on Wednesday night. Deane scored 15 points and added 5 assists in 24 minutes. BK Ventspils (27-3) is placed first in the LBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Deane's overall stats are: 9.0ppg, 1.8rpg, 3.9apg and 1.2spg in 29 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Deane used to play for PBC Lukoil Akademik Sophia in Bulgarian league.

   #2. Dimitar Karadzovski (190-G-84, agency: Global Sports Plaza, currently plays in FYR Macedonia) could not help Kumanovo (1-5) in their last game. Despite Karadzovski's very good performance the sixth-placed Kumanovo (1-5) lost 76-81 on the road to the leading MZT Skopje in the Places 1-6 group. He was the top scorer with 30 points. Karadzovski also added 6 assists in 38 minutes. It was Kumanovo's fifth consecutive loss in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. Karadzovski has reliable stats this year: 13.0ppg, 3.8rpg and 4.5apg in 18 games. He has a dual citizenship: Bulgarian and FYR Macedonian.

   #3. Pero Antic (211-F/C-82, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Fenerbahce Istanbul to win against the 11th-ranked FC Barcelona (12-18) 68-65 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. Antic scored only 3 points. Fenerbahce Istanbul (18-12) is placed fifth in the Euroleague. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. They will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. Antic's overall stats this season are: 4.6ppg and 2.6rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: FYR Macedonian and Bulgarian.

Academic Bultex 99 Plovdiv (NBL) strengthened their roster with the addition of 30-year old ex-international small forward Martin Durchev (203-90kg-87) from Balkan. In 10 NBL games he recorded 9.1ppg, 2.1rpg and 2.7apg last season. Durchev also played that season for Araberri in the Spanish LEB Gold, where in 18 games he averaged 5.0ppg and 1.2rpg. Huracanes del Atlantico (LNB) landed 24-year old American forward Aaron Jones (206-104kg-93, college: Mississippi). He played most recently at Beroe in Bulgarian NBL league. In 33 games he averaged 12.5ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.3apg, 1.8spg and 1.5bpg last season. Jones helped them to win the cup and make to league final.
