Cibona defends championship title in Croatia - Jun 11, 2010

Finals, Game 5: Cibona - Zadar 95-73 (3-2)
Cibona blasted Zadar in Game Five of the Playoff Finals defending the championship title in Croatia. The home squad demonstrated great performance and celebrated 95-73 victory, 3-2 in the series. Bojan Bogdanovic (202-G/F-89) stepped up for the hosts with 21 points. Marko Tomas (201-G-85) secured a nice help scoring 18, while Leon Radosevicc (208-C-90) added one point less. Vedran Vukusic (206-F-82, college: Northwesternn) (6 rebs) and Jamont Gordon (193-G/F-87, college: Mississippi St.) (7 as) helped with 12 points each. On the other side, Zadar got 17 points and 5 boards from Hrvoje Peric (203-F-85). Rok Stipcevic collected 16 pts and 6 assists. Both teams were pretty good offensively in the first half. Opening ten minutes of this meeting belonged to Cibona, who ended it with 24-21 lead. The hosts had even more productive Q2 as they drained impressive 27 pts, while Zadar was stopped on 22. It means that after 20 minutes of play Cibona was holding decent 51-43 advantage. Third quarter was the crucial one as Cibona won it with huge 22-10. They entered to the last ten minutes with comfortably plus 20 and all after that was just the formality. Cibona was the regular season champion with 12-2 score and later eliminated Zagreb in the Playoff Semifinals (2-0).


Zagreb is the National Cup winner - Feb 21, 2010

Zagreb - Cibona 81-74
Zagreb is the winner of Croatian National Cup. In very exciting Final Game, Zagreb was too strong for the defending champion Cibona 81-74. That is the second National Cup trophy for Zagreb in the last three years. Luka Zoric (211-C/F-84) was a key player in this victory with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Damir Mulaomerovic (195-G-74) scored 20 points and handed out 6 assists, while Krunoslav Simon (197-G/F-85) added 13 pts. In Cibona, Bojan Bogdanovic (202-G/F-89) (9 rebs) and Jamont Gordon (193-G/F-87, college: Mississippi St.) (8 rebs) had 17 points each. Marko Tomas (201-G-85) followed with 16.
The winner of this game was decided in the last minute. After basket by Krunoslav Simon, Zagreb reached 76-72 lead. Bagaric scored it twice from the line for Cibona, but Luka Zoric made a dunk for plus 4 once again. Jamont Gordon missed a triple for Cibona after that, and on the other side Stimac scored one of two FTs for Zagreb. Gordon and Bojan Bogdanovic were unsuccessful again from behind the arc and Luka Zoric just sealed the victory in the Big Final.
As a reminder, in the Semifinals Zagreb was better than Cedevita 80-73. Cibona outsmarted Zadar in overtime 81-71.
