Novi Zagreb claim historic title win - May 5, 2013
Novi Zagreb beat defending champion Gospic, 70-61, in decisive game 5 to claim their first ever Croatian championship. Latoya Williams (190-C-87, college: Chipola JC) scored 21 points, Mirna Mazic (188-F-85, agency: 1x1 Sports, college: Richmond) 16 and Matea Vrdoljak (183-F-85) 10 while Chevon Keith (178-G-86, college: W.Carolina) led all scores with 26 points for Gospic. Ivana Jurcevic (174-G-81) added 10 points. Gospic opened the game with 8 straight points and had their largest lead of the game at 25-14 midway through the second quarter. After trailing 25-32, Zagreb went on a 13-5 run spanning halftime and Matea Vrdoljak hit 3-pointer to give her team an 38-37 lead, their first since 2-0. Gospic took the last last lead of the game, 48-47, early in the final quarter . Novi Zagreb responded with 9-0 run capped by first 3-pointer from Eva Komplet (182-F/C-86). Giospic cut the deficit to one, but Eva Komplet then converted back-to-back 3-pointers to extend the margin to 63-58 with less than two minutes left. Mirna Mazic added four free-throws in a row and Leilani Mitrchell hit 3-pointer for a 70-59 advantage. Novi Zagreb wins first title - Mar 16, 2013
Novi Zagreb defeated the host Sibenik Jolly JBS 87-76 in the final of the 2013 Croatian Cup Ruzica Meglaj-Rimac to win its first title. Leilani Mitchell (165-PG-85, agency: LBM Management, college: Utah) scored 34 points including seven 3-pointers, Latoya Williams (190-C-87, college: Chipola JC) added 18 points and Sena Pavetic (197-C-86) had 14 points. Novi Zagreb took their first double digit lead of the game in the first quarter and had their largest lead at 63-37 in the third period. Sibenik cut the deficit to 74-83 with four minutes to go, but were not able to get any closer. Antonija Misura (178-F-88, agency: 1x1 Sports) poured in 22 points for Sibenik, Kristina Benic (180-F-88) scored 20 points and Luca Ivankovic (207-C-87) 19.
