Jazine Arbanasi promoted to A1 League for the first time in club history - May 29, 2017


Jazine Arbanasi sealed promotion to A1 League for the first time in club history after a 113-82 win over Belisce in the Croatian A2 League Championship Stage Round 16.

Jazine Arbanasi-Belisce 113-82: Jazine took control of the game behind a 29-11 run for a 43-22 lead early in the second quarter. They scored 64 points in the first halftime, shot 58-percent (15-of-26) from the 3-point line and had three players with a double-double. Mate Mrva (198-F/C-83) scored 39 points on shooting 6-of-7 behind the 3-point arc, Josip Ceranja (203-G-90) had 21 points and 16 rebounds, Dino Palcic (185-G-90) collected 12 points and 11 assists. Goran Fodor (195-G-90) added 19 points on shooting 5-of-7 from the 3-point line and Marko Atelj added 17 points. Belisce was led by Antonio Bicvic (196-F-82) with 28 points, Nino Gradinjanin (96) scored 15, Juraj Boras (191-G-91) 12 and David Dolic (200-F-89) 10.

Ribola Kastela-Borovo 82-72: Kastela, who never trailed, used an 18-5 run to goi ahead 27-13 early in the first quarter and their lead never dropped below nine points for the rest of the game. Nikola Roso scored 15 points, Frano Marasovic (214-C-92) 13, Josip Glavinic (192-G-82) had 11 points and 8 assists, Dino Sipic (201-F-88) added 11 points and Stipe Rezic (201-G/F-89) 10. Borovo outrebounded Kastela 43-36, picking up 14 offensive boards, but commited 25 turnovers. Mario Rajsic (94) finished with a game-high 20 points, Mihael Bekavac (193-F-85) had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and Tomislav Bobinac (99) scored 11 points.

AKK Vern-Podravac 106-68: Vern took their first double-digit lead of the contest at 17-6 and led by as many as 20 points in the first quarter. Podravac cut the deficit to six points, but the home team responed with a 14-2 run for a 55-36 lead early in the second quarter. Filip Kordic (196-SG-92) scored 33 points on shooting 11-of-15 from the field including 5-of-9 behind the arc, Filip Simovic (95) added 18 points, Marko Bakovic (202-PF-93) 16, Luka Zivko (202-C/F-96) poured in 14 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double, Ivan Penic (202-F-89) posted 10 points and Marko Kljajic (188-F-80) handed out 13 assists. Podravac was led by Stefan Zadravec (186-PG-92) with 27 points, but he missed 18 shots, Nikola Sestak (190-F-90) scored 14 point and Alen Kendjelic (194-G-88) 12.

Pula 1981-Rudes 77-51: Pula made a 12-2 run to turn a 2-point deficit into a 17-9 lead and never looked back for the rest of the game. Marin Djugum scored 19 points, Ante Bozic (208-F/C-90, college: SW Oklahoma St.) 14, Nereo Grzinic 13 and David Ferencic (201-F-97) 11. Rudes' lone player in double figures was Mario Stirjan with 10 points.

Ribola Kastela return to A1 League - Jun 11, 2017


Ribola Kastela seal promotion after one year away thanks to a 79-64 win against Podravac in the last Round 18 of the A2 League Championship Stage.

Ribola Kastela-Podravac 79-64: Kastela, who never trailed, took their first double-digit lead of the contest at 21-10 late in the opening quarter. Podravac cut the deficit to six points midway through the third quarter. Kastela responded with a 14-4 run and late went on a 13-4 run to extend their lead to 76-58 three minutes left. Kastela shot just 39-percent (7-of-18) from the foul line. Josip Glavinic (192-G-82) scored 28 points, Aco Mandic (203-C/F-84) 25 and Dino Sipic (201-F-88) had 12 rebounds. Podravac was led by Stefan Zadravec (186-PG-92) with 21 points, Ivan Siprak (200-F-77) and Tomislav Matoic (184-G-89) both added 13 points.

Jazine Arbanasi-Pula 1981 115-88: Jazine took control of the game behind a 27-4 run spanning the first and second quarters for a 52-27 lead. Jazine led 65-36 at the halftime break and by as many as 45 points late in the third quarter. Jazine hit 13 3-pointers to Pula's just three and had seven players in double scoring figures. Dino Palcic (185-G-90) scored 20 points and handed out 10 assists, Marko Atelj, Goran Fodor (195-G-90) and Josip Ceranja (203-G-90) all posted 16 points, Josip Gulam (188-PG-95) 15, Mate Mrva (198-F/C-83) 13 and Jurica Drazovic (201-F-86) 12. Pula had five starters in double figures. Marin Djugum collected 19 points and 11 rebounds, David Ferencic (201-F-97) scored 18 points, Ante Bozic (208-F/C-90, college: SW Oklahoma St.) 15, Nino Dasko 13 and Lovro Bulesic (203-SG-98) 10.

AKK Vern-Belisce 76-83: Belisce made a 19-2 run to turn a three-point deficit into a 23-9 lead late in the first quarter and never looked back rest of the game. Vern cut the deficit to 74-75 with two minutes remaining. After Marko Soldo (198-G-89) missed a 3-pointer, Vern had a possession. Antonio Bicvic (196-F-82) stole the ball and sank a 3-pointer and, on the next possession, made a jumper to extend Belisce's advantage to 80-76. Belisce shot 55-percent from the field including 10-of-22 behind the 3-point arc. Luka Saric scored 29 points on shooting 12-of.14 from the field, Marko Soldo (198-G-89) added 23 points, Antonio Bicvic (196-F-82) 15 and Juraj Boras (191-G-91) collected 12 points and 12 assists. Vern outrebounded Belisce 47-29, picking up 25 offensive boards, but shot just 18-percent (7-of-40) from 3-point land. Marko Bakovic (202-PF-93) finished with 20 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double, Filip Kordic (196-SG-92) had 19 points and 14 rebounds, Luka Zivko (202-C/F-96) scored 14 points and Ivan Penic (202-F-89) 12.

Borovo-Graficar 73-62: After trailing by three late in the second quarter, Borovo went on a decisive 10-0 run spanning halftime to go up 49-42. Graficar used an 8-0 run to cut a 13-point deficit to 62-67 with 7:49 remaining, but would not score again for the rest of the game. Toni Kovac (97) led Borovo with a game-high 20 points, Mihael Bekavac (193-F-85) scored 17, Srdjan Brocic (99) 13, Mario Rajsic (94) 12 and Dario Pusic (207-C-82) grabbed 11 rebounds. Graficar hit more 3-point attempts (11-of-26) than 2-point attempts (9-of-23) and were outrebounded 24-41. Jaksa Petrovic (88) and Zlatko Stefan (190-PG-90) both finished with 17 points and Mario Novak (185-G-85) added 12.

Sanac-Rudes 82-94: Mario Galic (196-G-89) scored 26 points for Rudes, Marko Dmitrovic (206-F-89) 17, Luka Ljubicic (96) 11 and Marko Juric (187-G-99) 10. Only starters scored for Sanac. Dario Gazic (200-G/F-78) finished with 27 points, Dominic Gilbert (198-G/F-96, college: UBC) had 25 points and 10 rebounds, Antonio Kraljic (193-G-93) collected 15 points and 12 assists and Vladimir Pozar (97) added 13 points
