Playoff Finals, Game 3: Gospic CO - Jolly JBS 82-76

Just like it was somewhat expected Gospic has defended the title after sweeping the finals series against Jolly Sibenik 3-0. Gospic used home court advantage on their way to 82-76 win after a close fight for most of the game. With this win, Gospic has finished the season with an overall perfect score of 38 wins and no losses. From the opening tip off it was evident that Gospic players came out determined o make this the last match of the series. They took first quarter lead 22-16. But Sibenik players werent going out without a fight so they kept it close in the second period. By halftime break the score was still to Gospic favor as the scoreboard showed 39-35. Not much changed in the second half, as visitors tried to make a comeback but Gospic players controlled flow of the match. In the final 10 minutes of play, it became evident that hosts are playing with just enough energy to maintain their lead. They routinely closed the game out for final score of 82-76 and celebrations could begin.
Jelena Ivezic (184-G-84) was excellent for Gospic as she poured in 30 points on the night. Carla Thomas (191-F/C-85, agency: LBM Management, college: Vanderbilt) followed with 15 points, while Anda Jelavic (175-G-80, agency: Data Plus Group) and Ivana Jurcevic (174-G-81) chipped in 14 and 12 points respectively. On the other side, Sibenik got 20 point effort from Neda Lokas (182-F-85). Luca Ivankovic (200-C-87) and Marta Cakic (175-G-82) contributed 17 and 13 points each.

Center Josipa Pavic (187-C-99) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Tresnjevka, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9. The 17-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 21 rebounds, while her team crushed Sibenik (#8, 3-5) with 23-point margin 92-69. Tresnjevka maintains the 2nd position in Croatian A1. Tresnjevka 2009 II and Omis are still unbeaten in Croatian A2 League. Tresnjevka 2009 II crushed Medvescak II 90-50. Matilda Soric and Tonia Bilic both scored 20 points for Tresnjevka and Ivona Franic (185-C-98) was the lone Medvescak's scorer in double-figures with a game-high 21 points.
