Croatian National Team won the thriller over the hosts at the Adecco Cup EX-YU. Croatia grabbed 65:60 win to face Serbia tomorrow in the Final.
It was a great game and kept the spectators alive until the last minutes. The first two periods brought the same score on the board as Slovenia won both of them 16-15. Both teams left the court for the big break at 32:30, but Krunoslav tied the game at 32:32 and then Croatia won the third frame 21-16 to take 51:48 advantage after thirty minutes. Krunoslav brought Croatia 53:52 lead, while E Erazem Lorbek (209-F/C-84, college: Michigan St.) brought the lead back to the hosts at 54:53. Goran Dragic (194-PG-86) scored for 56:53, while Popovic scored a three-pointer for 56:56. Erazem Lorbek and Luka Zoric (211-C/F-84) exchanged the baskets for 58:58 with 3 and a half minutes to go. Goran Dragic made two free throws for the home side, but Popovic again replied from the perimeter for 1-point lead. Both teams were scoreless with two minutes at the end of the game, while Tomic broke the silence at 63:60. Bojan Bogdanovic (202-G/F-89) made two free throws for 65:60 that became the final score in the game.
Krunoslav Simon top-scored for the winners with15 points for 2-0 record. Bojan Bogdanovic netted 11 and Luka Zoric posted 9. Erazem Lorbek answered with 14 points in the losing effort, while Matjaz Smodis (205-F-79) notched 10.

He is a dual citizen owning also Bosnia and Herzegovina passport. He managed to play in three leagues last year. In 17 Serie A games he recorded 6.5ppg and 3.8rpg. De Longhi Treviso Basket 2012 (Serie A2) confirmed in their roster 21-year old naturalized Croatian small forward Djordje Malbasa (198-95). He has played there for the last four seasons. In 34 Serie A2 games he had just 2.7ppg and 1.7rpg last season. Malbasa helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals. He won Italian LNP Silver championship title in 2015. Baloncesto Sevilla (Liga Endesa) inked 46-year old Croatian coach Zan Tabak. He coached most recently at Maccabi Fox Tel-Aviv in Israeli Winner League. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals.
