In the 21st round of Croatian A1 Jolly took the most crucial victory in Zagreb, over Medvescak, and secured third spot for play off. That was another bad game for Medvescak they lost even 5 from 6 games in last month. Medvescak will have another game this Saturday in Zadar, but they will remain fourth.
On the other hand, Zadar lost against Pleter, so Pleter will remain 5th at the end of regular season, and will play against Medvescak in quarter-final. This is the great success for Pleter, as they played A2 division last year. Zadar will face Medvescak in the last round. If they want to avoid Novi Zagreb in play off they need to win against Medvescak. But, even if they lose, they can still secure 6th place but then Omis have to lose against 9th placed Rockwool Pula on Saturday.
At the last away game of season Rockwool Pula enrolled convincing defeat from Novi Zagreb, the second place team of A-1 league. Pula provide excellent resistance and lost just with five points margin (63:68) in their first game in December, but this time Novi Zagreb was not given the slightest opportunity and Pula was frozen at the end on -43 (94 : 51). Novi Zagreb secured 2nd place, another big success for a team who played A2 division just 2 years ago. Last season they achieve 3rd place with a great players such as Britney Miller, Jovana Vukoje, Sherill Baker, Kristina Benic etc. Now, they have only Croatian players in their squad, 9 of them from city of Zagreb, and they have even better season behind them - 2nd place in Croatian Cup and 2nd place in regular championship season. Well done. But there is still games to play.
So, more-less, everything is clear for quarter-finals which should start next mid-week. Gospic will play against Croatia 2006, Medvescak against Pleter. Novi Zagreb will play against 7th placed and Jolly against 6th placed team the only two candidates are Zadar and Omis. We will know for sure this Saturday.
Bottom placed Dubrava will play A2 division next year. Agram had another bad season, they secured A1 spot only because they were slightly better than Dubrava. Rockwool Pula is the biggest disappointment of the season - they planned to fight for semi's, but at the end they didn't even make it in play off. Tragic season for Istrian team.
